Air can pass through the Cambro CPU244884V4PKG Camshelving® Premium starter shelving unit's four louvered shelves to reach product directly, creating an ideal storage space for perishables and bulk ingredients. Free-flowing air also minimizes damaging dust and moisture accumulation. Each shelving tier can support 800 pounds, but the unit should hold no more than 2,000 pounds at once so its posts don't lose their strength throughout use. Compatible with frequent delivery and repeated loading and retrieval, the shelves' polypropylene construction resists corrosion, rust, and damage from saltwater, humidity, moisture, and food acids. Embedded antimicrobial protection inhibits bacterial growth and spread that could create odors or stains and destroy product. This protection agent works between regular cleanings, and operators can wipe the shelves clean or sanitize them in a dishmachine, depending on need.

To ensure products are stored safely, the Cambro CPU244884V4PKG starter shelving unit can be used in temperatures from -36 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit for dishroom, pantry, loading dock, and walk-in cooler or freezer storage. Like the shelf plates, the included steel posts and traverses are coated with polypropylene to resist rust and corrosion in humid spaces. This shelving system requires field assembly and includes the necessary components for setup: eight adjustable traverses, molded-in dovetails, and two unassembled post kits. Though the post kits ship unassembled, dovetails are fastened to the posts so operators don't have to attach them—a tedious step required in Cambro's Elements and Basics Plus shelving systems.
