Air-Cooled Ice Machines

Air-cooled ice machines are nearly ubiquitous, with only select operations better served by one of the other compressor options. They use surrounding air, pulled into the unit by a fan, to cool the compressor coils to enable the machine to produce ice.

Air-cooled Ice Makers Details

From low- to high-volume, undercounters to large combo units, air-cooled ice machines run the gamut of options, making them great for almost any operation. They need little more than room to breathe, along with power and water supplies, to crank out cubes, nuggets, and even massive gourmet ice pieces.

Air-cooled units are popular for their ease of installation and operation, but also because they often provide the lowest installation and operating costs. They use fans to pull air into the units and over the condenser coils, which vent heat removed from ice-making water via a refrigerant.

Air-cooled ice makers are a great fit for most operations, from restaurant kitchens to hotel guest areas, and some can even be used outdoors in the right circumstances. However, they aren’t great inside or outside if the temperature gets too high or in tight spaces where air circulation is limited. Additionally, operators looking to cut down on noise and heat in the area around the ice machine may need to look at another option.
