My last Manitowoc lasted 19 years hope this one is just as good

Sticking with a reliable product.

This ice maker replaced an almost identical ice maker that has served us well for over 20 years in our church kitchen. It was a quick delivery and installation was simple. It didn't produce ice at first, but the warranty serviceman quickly found that the water pump plug had come loose during shipment.

Ice machine works great!

The machine works well. Really do like the programming feature to only make ice when we want it to, stops a bit of waste. Only downside that any of us see is that the height seems rather short so we opted to help out by putting it on a set of bed risers.

Such a waste of time and money!

The system leaks at the filter, and leaks are no good!

Very good ice machine

I had a Scotsman prodigy Plus ice machine and the bearing in the auger went out. I switched from a water cooled to a air cool. The Manitowoc is a great machine and is able to keep up with our ice demand. I was able to use my existing bin. It took about a week for the shipping and I paid for the lift gate service which I would recommend. So far the only con that I have found is the air filter is located on the back side of the unit which makes it a little tricky to clean. The install took a little over an hour.

I have always had good luck with Manitowoc. Easy to maintain and this replaces a Manitowoc that lasted 18 years without a service call. Time will tell.

Yes I would buy this product again.

Ice maker is fast and the control panel is easy to move around. Wizard is a nice feature speeds up programming. Cleaning the unit before putting in service is a must. Cleaning solution should be included for first initial time.

Use for drinks, I always have had one, nothing to complain about yet!

HORRIBLE quality controll

The first unit arivived as tech was wiring noticed support brace kinked after further checking found main wiring harness cut into copper. After two days of emails Manitowoc sent replacement machine. Has been in service two days has yet to produce full hopper of ice. Have attempted to contact authorized Manitowoc technicians have yet to hear back from either. MANITOWOC =GARBAGE!

I would make this purchace choice again

I like the bin it was a first time purchase for me on this type of product. The adjustable legs are definitely a nice feature and the scoop and its bracket are all nice features.

I really like the machine. The ice is nugget and it is what i was wanting. I run a HVAC service company and will have ice now for our water cans and such this summer. We always need it to stay hydrated. Simple machine not much to go wrong. It looks to me to be a reliable choice. I was built well from a technical stand point. I like that it has a built in filter on the condenser. I like the easily removable panels for servicing. Seems to be well put together with longevity in mind and good solid engineering.

American owned Company, Commercial unit, great product

First and foremost this is a wonderful product, it is one of the few ice makers that has an American built evaporator and the larger machines are still built in the United States. This product is meant for Commercial businesses with small ice production needs. If you serve less than 10 people per day, this is the machine for you. Rule of thumb for ice needs is 3 pounds of ice per day per person. I tell all my customers that if you own a café or restaurant you need to START with at least a 450 pound ice machine. I have had many customers unhappy with too small an ice machine, I've NEVER in 30+ years had anyone complain about too much ice. Regarding the other reviews on here, these people bought machines they did not understand and that's why they are unhappy. First this is a COMMERCIAL piece of equipment, it is not designed for home use. You can install them in homes but they require maintenance just like cars and most homeowners are not going to be happy paying the maintenance bills these machines require and that is if you can find a company willing to come to your home. Both problems these people are having are due to lack of maintenance, if you do the maintenance on the machines you should see at minimum a 7-10 year life cycle with the machine, possibly longer. This is a great piece of equipment with a great warranty and a good company that stands behind their equipment. I would buy it again and continue to sell it to my customers.

had similar Manitowoc ice maker for 11+ years. When we were ready to replace looked at several brands but decided to go with the same brand since we were very happy with the old one and it served out needs. New ones performs great and gives plenty of ice fast.

Great Machine!

This machine is a great addition to our Moderate Complexity establishment! It makes plenty of ice for our Dining area which seats up to 40 people and Bar area which seats up to 20 People.

Sturdy and good looking unit

Installed this unit and it's been humming along nicely. Cool feature is inside ice scoop storage along inside wall. Packing and crating was very good. Installation was very easy. Am happy with the 7/8 x 7/8 cube. KaTom has the best price available: trucking firm delivery was very courteous and professional.

I bought this machine a year ago. It replaced a Sub Zero that was twice the cost. Although the Sub Zero made similar size cubes it was difficult to clean and a regular maintenance problem. After three years I removed it and used it to prop up an end of my welding bench; after all, it was PRETTY. I had a plate style before that that made smaller square cubes and was NOISY (actually melted them out a sheet with a wire grate). Not very reliable. Buy this one, use the recommended filters and cleaning solutions and your ice machine headache just got better.

Have a very busy coffee house. When the summer starts to heat up we go through a lot of ice. This machine was purchased to back up our other manitowoc that we have. Since the inśtall we have not seen the bottom of the ice bin. The ice in the unit we have goes untouched. The new machine is now our primary, and the other is used for back up.

Price was right, delivery was timely.

KaTom is reliable and price-competitive. It doesn't get much better than that.

Great Machine for our church

We replaced a smaller machine with this unit. Shopped around and found the best price at Katom. Love all the features. Only had for about 3 weeks so cannot speak to durability yet.

It sounds like a microwave! Shhh, quiet!

I bought the bin seperately to fit an older model head (which was pure junk), then needed a new head to fit the bin. I've never been around such a quiet ice maker!!!! I literally sounds like a microwave, and the heat output for an air cooled unit is minimal. I have it right beside my restaurant's cash register and soda fountain. Very user freindly, too.

delivered on time, set up was easy and this unit is working great. won't know all the facts till the end of upcoming summer season.

Leaker!

When we received the "brand New" machine it was freight damaged by the freight company; So I contacted KaTom on the spot & a nice lady asured me that if I would receive it, that someone else would get with me on the credit; Well after a lengthy time & many emails later they finally gave me credit. I then hooked up my "Brand New" ice machine & turned on the water supply, only to find water running everywhere out of the bottom of it internaly!; So After I cused at it a while, I took the back off & found the "internal leak" at a bad connection on the supply fitting; so I repaired that on my "Brand New" ice machine & put it all back together & re-installed it! I spoke to a rep. at KaTom about the leak, & it was like, well, we will tell the upper management. So nothing ever became of the "TESTED AT FACTORY" before shipment issue. It does work now & makes ice! Why should you have to work on a "BRAND NEW" ice machine?

One and Done

We purchased an ice maker... it dropped one batch of ice... then the compressor went out... So far, there has been no benefit to my plant for having an ice maker in the break room. It's currently sitting in a technician's workshop... NO GOOD!!!

Excellent machine

We installed one of these units outside 9 months ago and it has ran perfectly. We have just replaced 2 scotsman units with the under counter model. Unfortunately the units are very deep for an under counter modelwhich leaves very little back clearance. One machine had to be modified and the drain pipe was run through the side of the machine so we could get back far enough into the cupboard. The machines are very easy to maintain and produce lots of ice. I will be buying more of these in the future.

Manitowoc Ice Machine

This machine is replacing a 25 year old Manitowoc Ice Machine of the same size. It is still working, but we are afraid he will quit right when we need it most. I think this was a great value for our needs. We are a military service organization and use this heavily seven (7) day per week.

Works like a charm

Ice maker installed undercounter near wet bar, ideal for entertaining as there is plenty of storage for ice. There was no problem to install by a novice installer, no plumber was needed. The machine is working perfectly so far and am very pleased with this product.

Fantastic Durable Machine

We have this installed in a small laundry room off of the kitchen. We have it vented to the outside in summer and inside in winter. Love that we can change the venting according to the season. Produces perfect quantity of ice for daily family use with occasional large parties and filling a medium sized cooler for fishing! Our only con is that it is a little loud for the small space but we would purchase it again without question!!

Buyer beware of this manufacturer. Arrived DOA!! After the first service call by the manufactuer's local service rep to replace the main control board that he had to pay the freight for the unit stopped producing ice. The second service call required an adjustment that Manitowoc does not cover under warranty. The $120.00 adjustment was paid by me to the manufactuer's local service rep for his service. This is Manitowoc's five year warranty!!! After all the time trouble shooting the unit for the factory, purchasing ice the unit did not make, my time and mileage, and phone calls I would not reccomend this Manufacturer to anyone, period. This has been the most disappointing purachase in 27 years of owning this restaurant. Good luck Manitowoc! Never again.

Makes plenty of Clear Ice

Drainage hose broke and we are unable to get a replacement. We were told to go to [@] for parts.

At first we thought it was too noisy, but as it filled up, its not even noticeable. We are using it in our small coffee shop. It made the ice type that our coffee vendor recommended.

Like Manitowoc Undercounter Ice Machine

We have this machine for an office of 33 people - makes plenty of ice - we promote drinking lots of water for health reasons. Employees appreciate and use it a lot. This machine replaced a much noisier Scotsman that died after 11 years. The clean & sanitize cycles are easy to run, will make us more likely to maintain properly. Only problem is with 5" required rear clearance, machine sticks out 2" too much from a standard depth kitchen counter.

This filter only lasts about 3-4 months instead of 6 months as advertised, but I still give good review because it may be due to bad water?? Seems like manufacturer would take into consideration though when giving life span.

Service excellent- Not installed yet

I just received the unit and so far was impressed w/the unit. It took several calls and emails to decided on this unit vs a comparable brand. The purchase dept was outstanding w/getting back w/me by email and phone w/my questions. I was impressed at the personal manner of this company during the purchase process. I have never purchased anything on the internet,much less an appliance, so I had alot of questions. Every question was handled w/efficiency and importance to get the info back to me asap so I could make a decision. Then the shipping process was excellent because I was able to be in touch w/the local delivery company whom was also very courteous w/the delivery. The reviews commented about the unit being too LOUD, so we were concerned about this. Once we got it out of the well packed box protecting it, we turned it on and it does not sound LOUD at all. Has the same sound as a refrigerator. This will be installed in our Clinic's kitchen once built, so as soon as it is installed, we will report back. I was very impressed at the unit being self contained, which was the reason for this purchase. It is more beautiful than the pictures show, since I had no way to look at one prior to purchase. I am excited to plug in and start using. Thank you Katom service personnel for all your assistance in this purchase. Outstanding team. Promise to report back for all to read when I install and start using the unit.

Ice Maker, Cube Style, Air-Cooled, Appro

5 guys use it here at work to top off ice chests full of water, drinks, etc..., fortunitely we do not all come at the same time. It makes ice pretty fast. Empty it in the morning, that afternoon, there is enough to top your chest off again. About once every 2-3 years, we put a cleaning solution through it to keep it working good. Has been in service for 10 years running.
