With its five louvered shelving tiers, the Cambro CPU184864V5480 Camshelving® Premium starter shelving unit provides a safe storage space for perishables, which require free-flowing air. Air can move through the shelves' slots and surround product, which helps maintain temperatures while reducing buildup of moisture and dust. As much as 800 pounds can be stored on each shelf; however, the unit is engineered to support 2,000 pounds at its full-load capacity. Traverses support the shelves, and by repositioning them, operators can raise or lower the shelves along the unit's posts to create sufficient space for new product as stock is rotated. These shelves can be wiped clean and are removable for dishmachine sanitization. Between thorough cleaning cycles, built-in Camguard® antimicrobial protection inhibits microbial growth, and the shelves' polypropylene construction resists rust and corrosion.

To broaden storage opportunities, the Cambro CPU184864V5480 starter shelving unit withstands temperatures between -36 and 190 degrees Fahrenheit for use in walk-in units, pantries, dishrooms, and loading docks, and the traverses and posts resist corrosion in humid environments. Though it ships unassembled, it includes the necessary components for setup: traverses, two preassembled post kits, and dovetails. The inclusion of molded-in dovetails in this shelving system's hardware distinguishes it from Cambro's Basics Plus and Elements shelving units. Because the dovetails are built into the four preassembled steel and polypropylene posts, they can be set up faster than posts that require operators to attach the dovetails in the field. Once it's assembled, this speckled gray structure measures 48 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 64 inches high.
