Robot Coupe Blixer

What is a Blixer?

Created by Robot Coupe, which introduced the first wave of food processors in 1960, Blixers perform the same processing tasks as commercial mixers and blenders. Robot Coupe designed this line for use in the healthcare market – including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities, retirement homes, and other healthcare facilities – as they can produce offerings compatible with liquid diets and spoon feedings. Able to prepare smooth, liquefied, and semi-liquefied foods, these models serve as a cutter mixer to mix, blend, chop, and puree ingredients, knead doughs, and dice, grate, or slice vegetables.

How Blixers Work

Blixers are vertical, bowl-based blender mixers powered by motors between 1.5 and 16 horsepower for use in both low- and high-volume settings. For example, the Blixer 3 is equipped with a 3.5 quart bowl for serving 2 to 10 portions per day, while the Blixer 60, complete with a 63 quart bowl, can serve as many as 225 portions daily.

Most models include sets of two or three S-shaped, serrated blades able cut through dense ingredients and thoroughly combine them. Once processing begins, bowl scrapers and lid wipers positioned inside the bowl push food towards the blades for optimal mixing. Blixers are designed with one or two speeds, which assist in customizing the mix, and include on/off buttons to simplify starting and stopping the unit. Control pads on several models include buttons flush to the panel for simple use and digital timers to manage processing times.

Robot Coupe Blixer Accessories

Robot Coupe manufactures several Blixer accessories designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of the machines, the most common of which are additional blade assemblies. Compatible with certain models, these items include up to three fine or course blades and be used to replace or provide alternatives to existing blade assemblies. Plate racks and bowl assembly kits for specific models are also available.

Large operations serving may consider the BLIXER 45 or BLIXER 60, as they can prepare up to 1200 meals per service.

Benefits of Using a Blixer

Blixers are user-friendly devices that can improve meal preparation and benefit operators before, during, and after processing. These machines can generate properly textured, individually modified meals with enhanced cutting and mixing abilities, while assisting the operator through easy and efficient use, simplified maintenance, and several built-in safety features.

  • Precision Cutting Features: Blixers use direct-drive induction, meaning the motor is directly connected to the operating machine, which promotes precise, intense cutting, as well as consistent, daily use. The built-in pulse function found in all Blixers is another feature that contributes to the cutting precision of the appliance.
  • Easy Mixture Monitoring: Nearly every model features a transparent, shock-and-heat-resistant lid that lets users monitor the mixture throughout processing. Also common is a central opening at the top of the bowl, which allows operators to thin or thicken mixtures or even add new ingredients during processing.
  • Support and Stability Features: Robot Coupe Blixers are equipped with various support features that help prevent spills and messes by ensuring stability. These include a central locking system that locks the bowl in place during processing, side handles for easy lifting and transportation, and, in some models, retractable legs for additional bowl support and retractable wheels for simple moving and transport.
  • Safety Features: This equipment is designed with user experience in mind, including several features that ensure the continued safety of the operator. Almost every model is complete with a thermal failsafe, magnetic safety system, and motor break, all of which greatly reduce the potential for accidents or injury during use.
  • Simplified Cleaning and Maintenance: All Blixer models are equipped with an adjustable stainless steel bowl that can be easily detached for simple cleaning and maintenance, helping prolong the life of the appliance. Some options include tilting capabilities as well for tilting in various directions, including horizontally, giving users full access of the bowl for deep cleanings.
