Great Ice Maker

This machine makes lots of ice each time. (24 cube tray) Installation was a breeze and very simple to install. The machine is a little noisy during an ice dump but it is acceptable. Ice only dumps every few hours once the machine is full. Scotsman seems to be the best brand on the market and we love it!

I would buy this again.

This was a replacement for the same/similar model that was almost 12 years old. The old one had been repaired about 6 years ago, which wasn't cheap. The merchant that sold and services the Scotsman is no longer in business, so repair this time was not an option. This is one of the few that makes the 'gourmet' ice, which we prefer.

Best Ice Machine...

This ice machine is amazing. Hope it lasts for a long time. The ice is AWSOME!

We own three and love them all!

This purchase was the third one we now own for our homes (2 with drain pumps) and 1 with gravity drain (pic attached). We were desperate to find another with pump included for our new home and found on KaTom's website JUST in time (you know how the supply chain is right now, huh?)! I MUST add a KUIDOS for Eric who helped us with the order and their shipping people who delivered it quickly and without any damage. Thank you KaTom Company!

Amazing Icemaker

My family absolutely loves the ice this makes! It really produces ice very quickly from the moment it was first turned on. It really is quality sonic ice that is soft and easy to chew. We had the U-Line nugget maker before this but it didn't last more than 1 year and did not produce this type of ice. It's definitely worth the price for this type of nugget ice.

Icemaker was wonderful! Service was perfect.

Wonderful design and great performance. Hooked it up a day before my party, threw out the first tub of ice and it started empty on the day. It made ice and kept up with consumption. The ice is clear and beautiful.

Buyer Beware!

I've had this unit repaired more times than it's worth. As soon as I fix one problem, another arises. I could have bought two new ones... Now purchasing A replacement is out of the question not only because of its inflated price but because this is an unreliable and poorly made machine. I'm replacing with a GE...

Get a MANITOWOC!

Worked great for 6 months! Compressor went out. Installed new compressor under warranty. Put back together - still no ice. Service repair person had to order another part (under warranty), still not repaired. 3 weeks no ice - buying bags for the business, not good. This is our 2nd location. Should have went with a MANITOWOC like we did on the first!

We have several Scotsman HID312A-1 ice machines in our hospital. We have much less repair calls than the Folletts or Manitowoc machines that we also have(but not for long)

Great machine, terrible packaging

I received my third! ice machine after receiving two previous machines that were damaged in shipment. The first machine arrived with the packaging intact and undamaged but after unpacking it was evident that it had been dropped, smashed or mistreated in other ways. The case was all bent up and after removing the front, serious internal damage was also evident. The compressor mounts were broken, sheet metal was bent and plastic trim was broken. I'm still working on returning this one!! A second machine was shipped and again the packing was undamaged but upon close inspection, the sheet metal was seriously bent up so the shipment was refused. The third one arrived and the machine was sitting loosely on a different pallet and the packing was missing or demolished. The machine was in better shape than the previous two and I filed a damage claim but accepted it. The top is bent and a piece of plastic trim is cracked but it's connected and working properly. Scotsman needs to do a much better job of protecting their machines from shipping damage. My previous ice machine was a Manitowoc and it was very well packaged and arrived with no damage whatsoever. Katom has been very helpful and I would buy from them again, but after a month of trying to get a functioning ice machine, I'm not sure I would order another Scotsman!

Do not purchase this machine

This ice maker is rated to hold 110 pounds of ice. It actually shuts off after producing 64 pounds of ice, some 40% less than rated. Do not purchase.

Great ice maker!

For "Sonic Ice" this is the one

I've owned this ice maker for 3 months now and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I considered purchasing lower priced options in the similar "nugget ice" vein but now that I have it and have compared it to those other manufacturers I'm glad I didn't! The only con is that the drain pump is a little loud but it doesn't run all the time and you eventually don't even notice it. I may try and put sound absorbing material around the outside to see if that helps but honestly it doesn't fire off very often or for very long so it's not an issue. If you're looking for a "Sonic Ice" maker then look no further, save your pennies and buy this one.

Best Purchase This Year....Office Hero

We were tired of buying bagged ice and needed an ice maker and this was the unit we decided on. It has perfect ice and the water despenser is an added bonus. It makes ice very quickly, which is important when we are having large events, it has been able to keep up with our 100 person lunches with out a problem. Glad we decided on this unit.

Ice Machine

I own a Bar and was in need of an Ice Machine, I did some web searching and settled on this machine. The price was a huge factor in deciding on this product. So far, it is working like a champ. My only compliant was that it was delivered with a medium size dent in the lower left side of the machine. Since the dent didn't impend the operation, I chose to keep the machine as I needed one then and didn't have the time to return it.

Acceptable Icemaker

Once I sorted out the hook-up of the water intake line and the water drain line, I had to work on the "bin-level" adjustment. Now, the unit operates as advertised, making crystal clear cubes at a rate that satisfies our household needs. However, I expected a higher quality product for the price I paid.

Awesome product - simple set-up and usage.

Worked for a little while

When it was first installed, it worked well. After a year it ceased making ice, even with regular cleanings. Ice was never clear, but always tasted good. I've had it apart four times trying to figure out what is wrong. Each time it will make ice for a few days, then just make lots of noise, heat, and few cubes. It's been extremely noisey from day one and when you walk by it, you can feel the heat radiating from it. I'm going to chuck it and get something else.

Great machine once the bugs are out.

Several initial problems showed up, but once they were taken care of, it has been great. The ice is just right for out uses, small pieces and uniform.

Great Experience

This produce has been in my home for about 6 months and so far it works perfectly. It is under counter, makes small cublet ice (like restaurants or fast food chains like "Sonic"), and seems to always be full even though we have people over all the time. I would definitely recommend it.
