An Introduction to Vollrath Slicers
For delis, sandwich shops, and similar establishments, a reliable slicer is essential. To help fill this need, Vollrath manufactures a range of electric slicers to suit multiple slicing needs. These medium-duty, heavy-duty, and deluxe slicer models all include some common features that make up the standard of the Vollrath brand.
Vollrath Slicers Standard Features
All Vollrath slicers are belt driven and feature QuanTanium® nonstick coating that reduces drag against the plate, extending its lifespan despite frequent use and facilitating cleaning. Vollrath slicers come standard with built-in sharpeners and a hard-coated anodized aluminum body construction. Adjustment knobs allow operators to specify precise slice thickness.
QuanTanium is described by Vollrath as a unique mix of titanium, which is integrated into the coating on the slicer's plate.
Vollrath slicers also feature some standard safety measures. Nonskid rubber feet help keep the slicer from moving during operation, a safety cover comes installed under the motor, and a durable hand guard comes mounted to the unit's carriage to protect operator hands. In order to reduce fatigue, each Vollrath slicer is constructed with a 25- or 35-degree gravity feed for smoothly slicing large volumes of deli meats or cheeses. Additionally, Vollrath slicers have earned two certifications: UL sanitation and NSF/ANSI 8.
Vollrath Medium-duty Slicers
The hallmark feature of Vollrath's medium-duty slicers is their compact design, optimized for saving space in smaller operations. Two medium-duty slicer models are offered: one with a 12-inch blade and one with a 10-inch blade. Both sizes feature a 25-degree gravity feed and removable carriage to facilitate cleaning.
The 10-inch model is particularly useful for smaller operations or catering events, as the compact design makes it easy to carry and set up at event locations. Although both models are classified as medium duty, each features a different motor. Find a 1/3-peak-HP motor in the 10-inch model and a 2/5-peak-HP motor in the 12-inch model.
Vollrath Heavy-duty Slicers
Vollrath offers three slicer models in the heavy-duty category, which are ideal for busier, larger-volume operations requiring more daily slicing than medium-duty models can handle. The higher power allows these units to slice deli meat and blocks of cheese. If slicing cheese to order is one of your considerations when searching for a new slicer, you'll need a Vollrath heavy-duty slicer at minimum.
These two heavy-duty models are differentiated by their modes of operation. One features an automatic setting, while the other is a typical electric slicer that must be operated manually. Both models feature a 12-inch blade, a safe blade removal tool, and a large receiving tray. They're powered by a 1/2-peak-HP heavy-duty motor that provides the higher torque required to smoothly slice cheese.
At the premium end of the heavy-duty slicers, Vollrath offers a deluxe-level electric slicer for the highest-volume operations such as delis with high foot traffic or grocery store meat counters. This slicer is primarily set apart from the others by an extra-long slide rod, which is capable of cutting large blocks of cheese and meat. Like the other heavy-duty slicers, this model runs on a 1/2-peak-HP high-torque motor and features a safe blade removal system and large receiving tray.
Deluxe Slicer
In addition to the sturdy, hard-coated anodized aluminum body, QuanTanium coating, and slice adjustment knob standard on all Vollrath models, there are a few features unique to the Vollrath deluxe slicer.
- Tilt-open carriage with zero blade exposure
- Kickstand that eases cleaning beneath the unit
- Extra-large blade and slide rod
