True Refrigeration T-49-HC Description
The True T-49-HC two-section refrigerator is built with a reliable capillary tube refrigeration system that consistently maintains a set temperature between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit. High-performance, electronically commutated evaporator and condenser fan motors move large volumes of air, so temperatures remain consistent throughout the cabinet. These fan motors provide fast temperature recovery and short run times to extend the life of refrigerator components.
To help improve general maintenance of the condensing coil, a condensing fan motor blows in a reverse direction for 20 seconds when the compressor is turned on. This can help remove buildup of dirt, dust, and debris so the coil can work more efficiently. Preventative maintenance is still required to ensure the coil is operating properly to endure long-term use.
The cabinet is built with a stainless steel exterior front and anodized aluminum ends, back, and top, while the interior of the True T-49-HC reach-in refrigerator is protected with a rust-proof, clear-coated aluminum liner and a stainless steel floor. Coved corners simplify cleaning the floor since debris cannot get trapped, and each of the six PVC-coated wire shelves can be adjusted in 1⁄2-inch increments along durable aluminum support pilasters.

My true t 49 is amazing
I've had this fridge since 2013 and it is 2025 now. It has had zero problems and I have it in a residential kitchen. Would buy again. I love it.

Good solid refrigerator, good value
We recently bought this refrigerator for our church kitchen after going through 2 residential models in less than 10 years. we looked at half a dozen brands and several models in each brand before narrowing our decision to this model. These True refrigerators have a great warranty and very good reviews when it comes to servicing the equipment when that is necessary. This unit expands our capacity which will be very useful. As a commercial unit there is no wasted space and no little nooks and crannies to try and keep clean. The unit looks great and stainless steel doors are easy to keep clean. The unit dropped to proper temperature quite quickly and has been working beautifully. It is also surprisingly quiet -- quieter than the ice maker next to it. Setup of the fridge was easy, just follow directions. All the measurements of the fridge in the product description were dead on accurate. That made it very easy to plan how we would get the fridge into the kitchen. The unit arrives on an pallet and was very well boxed and sealed. The shelves and casters were secured solidly inside the unit so nothing was lost or damaged in shipping. The ordering process was very easy and our rep was on the ball and able to walk us through the process with no snags. It was a very pleasant experience. The delivery also went very well. We're a church, so we have no loading dock or anything for deliveries. No problem, the driver just swung his truck into the best spot and used his pallet jack to move the fridge as close to the building as was possible. Our only challenges getting the fridge into the kitchen came from the way our building was designed and built. So this was a very good experience and we now have a fridge that we look forward to using for many years in the future.

As a service technician, I can tell you this is a great product to add to any commercial kitchen and a great value for your dollars. Parts are readily available, that is not the case with the cheaper brands.(I'm looking at you Atosa, Migali & Summit) Now as an owner, your job is to make sure you maintenance the equipment quarterly and have someone like myself out yearly at minimum, you do that and this workhorse will work hard for you for 10+ years.

I would not buy this again
We use this refrigerator in our preschool kitchen. We have had to replace the Electronic Control Retro Kit Part #991224 just shy of once a year at a cost of $461 each time. It would be cheaper for us to replace this appliance than to keep repairing it for the same problem.

True has gone down hill and is. I longer reliable
Bought two True T-49 just over three years ago. Both have broken down within months of the 3 year warranty no longer covering them. True used to be a brand name that meant middle of the road but still quality; to have two separate units purchased 6 months apart both quit after 3 years??? I don't believe in coincidences that large.

We have a commercial kitchen in our church. About 15 years ago we bought this same model -- with good success, so when we needed to replace it, we reviewed models available and this unit continued to show good results for others. We reviewed specifications, and selected this unit -- we were very pleased with the quick responses we received from KaTom, and how quickly they were able to coordinate delivery details. The delivery service communicated specifics, was on time, and very professional. The fridge came down to refrigeration temp very quickly. Fairly quiet compared to the old one, this one comes to temp very quickly. We're impressed.
constant temperature even in a hot kitchen
I have had a few True units over the years and am always quite happy with them. They hold up well in a hot kitchen and keep food at a proper temp. Great units
