Understanding Your Hatco Product Number

With thousands of model options available, it's impossible to examine every Hatco product number; however, the examples below should provide you with the knowledge needed to better understand the product numbers in Hatco's catalog. Though the product numbers differ among categories, products within the same category become easy to differentiate if you learn to decipher the code.

Hatco Product Numbers for Heat Lamps

Hatco heat lamps are a good starting point for understanding product numbers. Heat lamps will have a total of six spaces for characters, with each character representing a different aspect of the product.

The first space will be for the name of the product, indicated by two letters. For heat lamps, this could be a GR for the "Glo-Ray" line or a UG for "Ultra-Glo." The second space will indicate the housing type, which is indicated by one character: "A" for aluminum, "N" for narrow-powder coated steel, or no character at all for stainless steel housing. The next space indicates the wattage with either an an "H" for high wattage or no character at all for standard wattage. The fourth spot indicates the lighting, with either an "L" for incandescent light, or no character to indicate no lights at all. The fifth spot indicates the width in inches of the heat lamp. The final spot may or may not have a character in it; it is reserved for the number of elements of the heater, with either a "D" for dual elements or no character at all to represent a single element.

Let's look at the Hatco GRAH-48 strip warmer, which has the product number of GRAH-48. Each character in the product number represents an aspect of that item.

  • GR indicates "Glo-Ray," the name of this line of strip heaters.
  • A indicates "aluminum," which represents the housing type of the strip heater.
  • H indicates "high wattage."
  • After the character indicating wattage, the next characters for this item are a number (which will be explained momentarily); however, some items may have an "L" here, which would indicate an "incandescent light." Since this product number lacks the "L," this item is without lights.
  • The 48 means that the item is 48 inches wide.
  • This item's product number ends here; however, other strip heaters may have a D in this space, which would represent "dual elements." Because this item does not have the "D", it has a single element.

The product number GRAH-48 means the item is a Glo-Ray strip heater that has aluminum housing, is high wattage, has no lights, is 48 inches wide and has a single element.

Hatco Product Numbers for Drop-In Refrigerator

Drop In Refrigerator Infographic

Hatco drop-in refrigerator product numbers follow a similar template. This product number will have up to 5 spots for characters. The first indicates the name of the product line; for drop-in refrigerators, this will always be CW. The second spot indicates the type of the product; again, in the case of drop-in refrigerators, it will say B. The next spot is optional for drop-in refrigerators; it shows if it has a remote condensing unit or if it is a well-only, and a blank spot means that neither applies. After that, there is spot to indicated the depth of the unit, and the final spot is reserved for a number to indicate the full-size pan capacity.

For this example, let's look at the Hatco CWB-2 drop-in refrigerator and its product number. This particular item does not include any information about the condensing unit/well or the depth, so it only has 3 out of 5 potential characters in its product number.

  • The CW indicates this unit has a cold well.
  • The B indicates it's a built-in unit.
  • The last number – a 2 in this case – indicates the number of full-size pans it can hold.

The Hatco CWB-2 drop-in refrigerator has a cold well and features a built-in installation that holds 2 full-size pans.

Hatco Product Numbers for Booster Heaters

Hatco booster heaters have a simple product number that doesn't require much explanation. Take the Hatco C-12 compact booster as an example.

  • The C indicates this booster heater is part of the compact model series; other possible designations include the imperial models series (identified with an S) and the mini-compact models series (identified with an MC).
  • The 12 refers to the kilowatts (kW) required by the machine to function.

With this information, we know that the Hatco C-12 booster heater is a compact booster heater requiring 12 kilowatts to function.

Hatco Product Numbers for Conveyor Toasters

Hatco toaster product numbers have a similar template to other Hatco products. These fall into one of three different product lines: pop-up slot toasters, conveyor toasters, and the large-scale electric conveyor toasters. The first characters of any toaster model are going to indicate the style of toaster: TPT for the four-slice pop-up toasters, TQ for the Toast Qwik conveyor toasters, and TK for the larger Toast King conveyor toasters. This style is always indicated first in all Hatco toaster product numbers; the rest of the product number differs among the different styles, meaning that there is no single formula to understand the entirety of Hatco's toaster offerings. Each style of toaster has its product line's numbers explained in the manual, but let's look at a specific toaster for a better understanding.

For this example, let's look at the Hatco TQ-800HBA conveyor toaster. The product number explanation is as follows:

  • TQ stands for "Toast Qwik," the name of this line of toasters.
  • 800 is the model number of the toaster.
  • H means the opening height of the toaster is 3 inches. No character here would indicate that the opening height is 2 inches.
  • BA means the unit toasts only one side of buns and bagels. No character would indicate the unit toasts both sides of buns and bagels.

The product number of TQ-800HBA signifies this toaster oven is in the Toast Qwick line with model number 800, has a 3-inch-tall opening, and toasts one side of buns and bagels.

Hatco Product Numbers for Display Warmers

Display warmers come in several different product lines, including Glo-Ray heated display cases, Flav-R-Fresh humidified impulse display cabinets, Flav-R-Savor humidified holding and display cabinets, heated zone merchandisers, and Glo-Ray merchandising display warmers. With such a vast array of products that fall under the general description of display warmers, there is no single product code guide to break down every display warmer product code. Each line has its own specific type of product code; for this one, we will look at the code for a merchandising display warmer.

For this example, let's look at the Hatco GRSDS-52D merchandising warmer. The product numbers for this line of products shares similarities with Hatco's heat lamps.

  • The GR indicates this is part of the "Glo-Ray" line of warmers.
  • The S indicates this warmer holds sandwiches and similar items.
  • The D shows this item is intended to display food for customers.
  • The next S indicates this model comes with a slanted shelf; an "H" would indicate a horizontal shelf, while an "S/H" would represent a slanted base and center horizontal shelf.
  • The two numbers indicate the width of the unit; in this case, we know this model is 52 inches wide.
  • The D indicates this is a dual shelf unit; a "T" would indicate a triple shelf, while no character at all would represent a single shelf unit.
  • There are no further characters after the shelf indicator; however, some units in this line might have an "HW" at the end, which would indicate "high wattage." Since this unit does not have an HW, you know it's a standard watt unit.

The Hatco GRSDS-52D is part of the Glo Ray line, holds sandwiches, is a display warmer, has slanted shelves, is 52 inches wide, is a dual-shelf unit, and has standard wattage.
