Part of the Steelheart series, the Hoshizaki SR60B-16 sandwich top refrigerator features a stainless steel body extending from its entire interior to the exterior front, sides, and removable top cover. These parts are both durable and corrosion-resistant . The cold bar on the unit's upper half holds 16 sixth-size, 4-inch-deep included poly pans, and the top rail can support pans with 6-inch depths. These pans are raised above the cool surface with the included adapter bars, ensuring that various toppings and fillings remain between 32 and 52 degrees Fahrenheit without developing ice. To protect foods against external contaminants and temperature loss, this refrigerator is paired with an insulated, hinged top cover that opens and closes with ease.

Access to the two-section compartment in the lower half is provided with two spring-assisted doors. To reduce the temperature loss associated with constant opening and shutting of the doors, line cooks can prop them open at 90 degrees to utilize the unit's stay-open feature, while lesser angles will automatically close them. These field-reversible doors create a firm seal with the use of magnetic door gaskets and are adorned with extruded aluminum handles. Once opened, two adjustable shelves can be raised or lowered by 1⁄2-inch increments for customization in the 14.8 cubic foot capacity.

The 1⁄3-horsepower motor of the Hoshizaki SR60B-16 prep table provides it with efficient, self-contained refrigeration system. This rear-mounted system works with a network of capillary tubes to spread environmentally friendly R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant throughout the unit's body. This station will periodically defrost when the enamel-coated evaporator initiates hot gas condensate removal at timed intervals, preserving integrity and performance. Four 6-inch casters and a suitable air distribution system are included in this refrigerator's design for mobility and airflow within the cavity.
