The Manitowoc IYT1500W/D-970 Indigo NXT™ ice machine and bin runs 24-hour diagnostics to monitor the operating status while lights alert the operator of issues on an icon-based control panel. This unit can produce 1,770 pounds of ice within a day if conditions are ideal. Before cubes are released from the evaporator plate, an acoustic sensing probe uses sound waves to monitor thickness. Some removable parts in the food zone have antimicrobial protection built in to slow bacteria growth between cleanings.

Accessing ice is comfortable and easy since the insulated door has side grips that enable it to be opened from different angles. A cammed latch keeps the door open for scooping, and the opening is angled at 53 degrees to support the scooping process. The included ice scoop features a thumb and knuckle guard to prevent ice from contacting hands. The Manitowoc IYT1500W/D-970 ice maker and bin can store 882 pounds, and its stainless steel exterior is coated in a DuraTech® clear coat.
