Vitro Goes Green!
Vitro, a leading producer of seating products, has recently announced their efforts to help "green" our environment. Vitro has been in the business of producing high-quality seating products since 1929, when R.C. Scott founded Vitro in St. Louis, MO.
Vitro has created guidelines to help them work in accordance with LEED (Leadership in Energy & environmental Design) guidelines. LEED guidelines provide standards for environmentally sustainable construction. Vitro plans to focus on the following points:

- Water efficiency & consumption reduction
- Sustainable materials & resources
- Indoor environmental quality
As the requirements for environmentally-friendly manufacturing become more stringent, Vitro will be well ahead of the competition with their recent implementations. Vitro plans on (or already are) taking the following steps to meet their guidelines:
- Using recycled office supplies when applicable, including copier paper.
- Utilizing email to reduce printing operations and substituted CD's for printed price lists.
- Partnered with Pedro's Planet for all document shredding.
- Minimize several kilowatt hours of energy by switching to energy-efficient lighting.
- Purchase of raw materials that are derived from recycled products, without sacrificing quality.
- Using paper packaging materials that are manufactured using recycled products which are recyclable themselves.
- Reclaiming powder coat.
- Air quality recycling in many plant operating procedures.
- Having a non-smoking environment.
- Scrap steel program for metal goods manufacturing.
- Continue to grow our relationships with raw material suppliers committed to supporting responsible environmental sustainability.
