Libbey Rebranding Announcement

Building Your Tabletop? Just Ask for Libbey

As of May 2023, Libbey – one of the foodservice industry's top tabletop providers – announced it would be consolidating two of its brands1 under a single name, streamlining its catalog of dinnerware, glassware, flatware, and serving supplies. Libbey acquired Syracuse China in 1995 and World Tableware in 19972 and has been at the forefront of the glassmaking industry since its founding in 1818.

Syracuse China, World Tableware Will Have Libbey Stamp

Fortunately for industry professionals whose tabletops have long relied on specific products from Syracuse China and World Tableware, those supplies will be manufactured under the Libbey name without any significant changes to the items themselves. The manufacturer stamp will include the pattern name, part number, and color. Libbey hopes the rebranding effort will make it easier for chefs and entrepreneurs to "create moments that matter" by finding the products they need in a single catalog of items.

"Whether our customers are looking for glassware or building a full tabletop with dinnerware and flatware, we want them to ask for Libbey by name. When they do, they’ll enjoy the same attention to detail, world-class customer service and industry expertise that makes Libbey a worldwide tabletop leader."

Libbey Sells Luxury Items with Reserve by Libbey®

In addition to consolidating most of its catalog under the Libbey name, the company announced the launch of a luxury line: Reserve by Libbey. The debuting sub-brand is aimed at highlighting the "highest-end" products from Syracuse China and World Tableware in addition to elegant glassware from the Master's Reserve® and Master's Gauge™ series. Upscale operations will be able to identify top-of-the-line tableware by looking for the Reserve by Libbey name.

Libbey Continues to Partner with Schönwald, Playground, & More

Although Libbey is consolidating its own brands, the tableware provider will continue to partner with international companies, bringing global style to tabletops across the United States as an exclusive or licensed distributor. These include Nachtmann and Spiegelau, Playground, and Schönwald. Additionally, Libbey has held an ownership stake in Mexican-based glass manufacturing company Crisa since 19973 and has owned the brand in full since 2006.
