KaTom to Implement New Shipping Method!
At KaTom, we are always striving to better your customer service experience and looking for ways to go green, whether it be in the form of high-quality customer service, exceptionally low prices, or affordable shipping. As of today, April 1, 2009, we are thrilled to offer you a new, low-priced shipping option that is sure to help us rise in the ranks as an industry leader in restaurant supply equipment. Instead of offering just UPS and Conway shipping, we have decided to exercise the use of carrier pigeons!
This new take on an old method is sure to keep your shipping costs down, while helping us to become more environmentally-friendly by eliminating the need for the use of gas. Shipping costs for the use of carrier pigeons will be determined by PPI (Pigeons Per Item). For example, if you purchase a small item, such as a spatula, that would only require the use of one carrier pigeon. Each pigeon is paid in seed, their favorite form of food. The amount of seed received by each pigeon is determined by the amount of travel that is required for delivery. Each mile traveled by one of our skilled pigeons requires payment of 1/2 lb. of seed. It is our hope that you will be considerate to our pigeon friends and offer them a small amount of seed over the standard rate, seeing as how the shipping costs are greatly reduced by only having to purchase bird seed, which is approximately $3.00 for a 5 lb. bag.
Each pigeon has been thoroughly trained by an expert carrier pigeon trainer to execute great skill in carrying your product. The safe delivery of your product is still our #1 priority. Our carrier pigeons have even been trained to take short breaks for restroom emergencies to reduce the risk of delivery of a spotted & messy product. The strength and endurance of these pigeons is extraordinary, rivaling that of much larger birds. 
Should you decide that overnighting a product is necessary, we will send extra carrier pigeons to allow them to take breaks during flight for long-range deliveries. Each team of pigeons will switch out periodically, ensuring that your product is delivered safely and on time. However, we do ask that you provide the pigeon with a small amount of drinking water upon arrival.
We encourage you to take advantage of our newest shipping option! If you are not completely satisfied with the pigeons that deliver your product, please send a note back with them and we will contact you as soon as possible regarding your issue. If you are really unsatisfied with the pigeons, they may be used for target practice for a small fee. Should this occur, please feel free to use one of our pigeon recipes which are located on the post prior to this on our blog.
