We would love to hear from you & hope you will share some of your kitchen tips with us and our readers!

Kitchen Tips

  • To determine if an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it is fresh. If it rises to the surface, throw it away.
  • Linings from cereal boxes can be used as a substitute for waxed paper.
  • Place a mini marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.
  • To easily remove skin from a garlic clove, place it in the microwave for 15 seconds.
  • If you do not have enough batter to fill all cupcake tins, pour 1 Tbsp. of water into the unfilled spots to help preserve the life of your pans.
  • Before putting honey into a measuring spoon, coat it with nonstick cooking spray to make clean-up a breeze!
  • Instead of flouring a baking pan when you make a cake, use a small amount of dry cake mix instead. The white mess on the exterior of the cake will be eliminated.
  • If you need to ripen avocados and bananas in a hurry, place them in a paper bag with an apple for 2-3 days.
  • To soften brown sugar that has already hardened, place a slice of bread in with it.
  • In order to keep milk fresh past its expiration date, add a pinch of salt. A pinch per gallon should do the trick!
  • If your potato chips are stale, place them in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds & then let stand for 2 minutes to make them crispy again.
