Burger King Uses Customers to Power Restaurant
Using customers to power your restaurant? "How is this ever going to work?" is probably the question going through your head at the moment, however, the concept is actually quite simple and unique. An innovative, eco-friendly company has been testing ways to derive energy from sources that have never before been explored. A Burger King in New Jersey has decided to test out one of their new energy-conversion products.
This particular Burger King is in the trial phase of utilizing a revolutionary type of speed bump that captures the kinetic energy from cars as they slow down to enter the drive-thru area and turns it into energy for the restaurant itself. These motion-powered speed bumps are expected to reduce the energy consumption of Burger King by around 10% when fully operational. This reduction is quite dramatic when you take into account that restaurants and other such businesses tend to spend anywhere from $50,000 or more each year on utility costs alone.
