Great Big Clock

You can see the time from where ever you are on this big clock. Clean face, easy to read time, very durable and KaTom is a wonderful company to do business with.

too small and not sturdy enough

I have purchased other Taylor scales in past for measuring dough and they were great. This particular scale is too small and flimsy.

Broke soon after initial use

Bought for use in a commercial bakery. Broke after a week of use.

Waterproof and Bulletproof. I have 11 of these.

These thermometers are waterproof, bulletproof, have a long and strong probe. 4 of the thermometers are on boats to measure water temperature in the worst of conditions. They take a licking and keep on ticking. The batteries last over a year. And they're accurate. Katom ships quickly and great customer service.

I would NOT buy this product again.

It is impossible to reset the temperature to the cunnent/correct temp. The plastic wheel on the back barely moves at all. Very poor construction....Sorry I tried to get the least expensive product...

I might buy this product again, knowing they are made wrong.

I had to disassemble this thermometer and make a modification so that it would read accurately. Now it reads exactly the same as my other mercury thermometers. These types of thermometers are dead on accurate, even more accurate than the national weather service uses and this is from their own words, as they have a 2 degree + or - variable. They do not use mercury containing equipment, mostly digital. The modification that I had to make was quite easy to do and the Taylor Company needs to maintain better quality control to prevent these type of issues from happening. To check if yours is assembled wrong, compare the bottom of the thermometer where the U bend is in the tube to an enlarged picture from the instructions or from this site online. The little metal piece should hold the tube flat against the black backer as the picture shows and the bottom segment should be straight down with an "L" bend in it to hold the tube down against the plastic leg molded into the frame of the unit itself. I'm reasonably sure that you will see what I'm trying to explain here when you make the comparison between the picture and the actual thermometer. Several forceful downward swings while holding the thermometer in an upright position should rectify the mercury separations.

Not very accurate

Ordered 3 thermometers and tested 2 of them. they were different by 3 degrees F.

Exceptional Value for a Workhorse Thermo

I was super happy to see these available from you guys!!! We use these throughout a large Nursery operation and find their reliability exceptional. I believe these thermos are priced cheaper than 24 years ago...STILL from the same producer...Thank You and CHEERS...it was -22F...your THERMO told me ..YIKES

Works fine but SLOW

This is a good item if you don't need quick readings. It may take 10-20 seconds to come up to the correct temperature reading.

I would by this product again, solid

I use this product for Pizza dough, I know it says Ice Cream but works great and gets the job done.

Best pocket thermometer for the money

Best pocket thermometer for the money, sheath comes with a built in wrench to calibrate the thermometer. Easy to read and easy to use, I wouldn't be caught with one.

Great scale

Very quick stopping. Saves lots of time if you are making large quantities.

Excelent Thermometer

This is replacing the same thermometer which is 30 years old. The only reason I am replacing it is the the temperature numbers have faded and they are barely readable

Scale is broken already. Haven't had it long.

A Practical Thermometer

I haven't calibrated the thermometer but it appears to be relatively accurate. It would be good to have a calibration certification.

Perfect for localized and general use. Use for particular areas where I need to know the temperature extremes quickly accurately. These units last for years without calibration, drifting or batteries. Wonderful old school technology.

I use the Taylor 5458 thermometer in my small greenhouse where it is very important to know high and low temperatures. It works great and it gives me great piece of mind.

Wall Thermometer

The thermometer has C and F. It is easy to read. The price was reasonable and they arrived promptly.

Great Uncle Would Approve

My 85 year old Mother bought this to replace this exact thermometer! Now the Taylor 5458 has been something of a family heirloom for nearly 100 years. Believe it or not, the original is still going strong but the plastic has started to break and the numbers have faded over the years. Time for a new one! I'm not exactly sure of when this design first made its debut but it has stood the test of time. My Great Uncle was issued this thermometer by the national weather service sometime in the early 20th century. It has hung on the wall of my house since I can remember and I'm not nearly 60. Mom is so thrilled with the quality of this replacement that she is ordering four more for us kids! Do not be put off by the mercury separating during shipping. A few gentile taps on a hard surface and it all rejoins. There may have been a few very small lines in the mercury but this disappeared within 24 hours of use. Also, the internal metal high and low markers got stuck at the top of the glass and required a bit of persuasion with the magnet to pull down. None of these are a reason to turn away from the tradition and quality of this wonderful instrument! Bottom line: 1. It is as accurate as anything on the market. 2. It is time tested. 3. It is simple and easy to read (even for Mom who is legally blind) 4. It's a good price for the quality Buy it! You and your Mom will never regret it! :-)

Broke the first day

The plug in the back of the scale was too big and kept falling out called spoke to someone who said they would have the company contact me.... I never heard back

Impressive product and priced appropriately!

This is a sweet little item that's come in handy several times for a non cook like me. Product work as designed without issues so far! Cleanup is a snap and storage is easy.

Good Service

Product does what I expected - arrived neat and in a timely manner

PERFECT! Just what we needed!

This product came quickly to our office once ordered. We use it for therapy timers at our clinic. The magnet on the back is great! We just hang them on the door frames. This timer has the nice feature to press start so you can see how long something is going OR you can set it to beep after a certain desired amount of time as well. We love these timers.

Taylor 5458 Max/min thermometer

I purchased my Taylor 5458 max/min thermometer to monitor the temperature. flucations in my green house. So far it is working well giving very accurate readings. When it arrived the Mercury had seperated in the column and had to be forced down By shaking it down. Otherwise this is the best max/min thermometer on the market today for the money.

to closely time more critical functions - it absolutely will not ring no matter what you do or try - have always used Robertshaw and so compared to it. - is nice looking but no function

Another melted probe

The probe cable melted the first time I used it on the grill, even though the promotional material specifically mentioned using it - with the remote alert - on the grill. Also, like all Taylor products I've tried, it is (or was) very slow to give a reading.

A Horror

What I just went through when I received this Taylor Thermometer I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy: A miserable instruction manual. Speaks of a screw on the battery cover that was simply not there. Then after inadvertently finding it, the instructions for changing from F to Centigrade are impossible to understand. The machine arrived scratched on the reading surface. The buttons to press are as illogical and hard to press as anything I have ever seen. But Taylor's customer service was even worse: long holds then disconnects. Then redial and connected by someone to someone else who was the wrong person. Finally reached someone who could do nothing for me and did not really understand the machine. And to return it would be a hassle of monumental proportions. Send a photo with other things to them, etc. etc. A couple of hours time to do, minimum. Never again anything by Taylor. If you want to be aggravated, buy this.

Get what you pay for

The scale is ok but it is extremely small. Good for measuring out small portions of fruit or veggies maybe but that's about it. I don't know of anything that could weigh a pound that could physically fit in the bowl of this small scale.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE IT!

I've had many scales over the years and this is by far the BEST one I've ever had. I shopped and shopped and read many reviews on [...] and other places before deciding on this one. I absolutely love it!
