The Koolaire KYT0400A/K400 half-cube ice machine with bin has an air-cooled condenser that uses fans to blow cold air and cool the equipment. When the evaporator gets cold enough, flowing water freezes to form ice cubes. In ideal conditions, it takes 24 hours to make 450 pounds of half-cube ice, which measures 0.375 inch by 1.125 inches by 0.875 inch and cools drinks more effectively than full-cube ice. This machine's exterior has a finish that, much like stainless steel, resists fingerprints and rust.

Every ice maker has a food zone, an area made up of the surfaces that come into contact with water and ice. This unit's food zone features white plastic parts so that dirt can be spotted by staff and cleaned. Users can remove the lift-off door and two screws to access the internal parts of the food zone, and several other internal components can be removed without tools. To prevent bacterial growth, the food zone is sealed, and a cleaning cycle can be started with the push of a button.

The Koolaire KYT0400A/K400 ice maker with bin has an exterior finish that looks like stainless steel and black side panels to match the ice machine. This bin can hold 365 pounds of ice and has a foam-insulated door to keep ice frozen. When scooping, the door can be propped open for full access to the bin. An 82-ounce scoop is included, along with a built-in holder that prevents the handle from contaminating the ice. This bin has four legs that elevate the unit and enable the user to clean underneath it.
