Hobart FD4/50-3 Description

To cut solid food waste down to drainable pieces, the Hobart FD4/50-3 garbage disposer is powered by a 1⁄2-horsepower, continuous-duty motor that features a manual-reset thermal overload inherent protector and permanently lubricated ball bearings for streamlined operation. While its 1 3⁄4-inch-tall stationary shredder ring includes four machine-ground, primary-action breaker bars and 42 secondary-action grinding teeth to chop thick contents, the 6 3⁄16-inch-diameter Ni-Resist flywheel is equipped with a breaker blade that expedites grinding while preventing foods from riding on its center. If contents get lodged in the flywheel, users can manually reverse the blade's direction with a correlating switch. This component's hardened stainless steel cutter blocks are replaceable and can be indexed for new cutting edges.

Operators can fasten the Hobart FD4/50-3 food waste disposer to a 7-inch I.D. throat-opening cone beneath a sink. Its vinyl isolating ring prevents metal-to-metal contact at the cone's mounting to minimize disruptive vibrations and noises during operation. This 7-inch-diameter by 21 5⁄8-inch-high unit's aluminum grind and discharge housings are durable enough to withstand high-volume use. For use with a 1 1⁄2-inch standard rain trap, it comes with a chrome-plated brass tailpiece.

Nice!

A very stout disposal unit! Quite expensive, but it is a commercial disposal, so it's hard to compare with the residential disposals.

KaTom's Response:

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. This unit is built for commercial use, which explains both its heavier-duty construction and higher price point compared to residential disposals.
