The True STR1R-1S-HC Spec Series® reach-in refrigerator has a strong stainless steel construction and a door handle that withstands heavy use. Since the door has hinges on the left side, it opens from the right. When pulled slightly open, the door closes on its own, but if it is opened past 120 degrees, it stays open for loading and unloading. Product sits on three chrome-plated wire shelves, and air flows between the wires so products cool evenly. Interior LED lights ensure the products are visible, and a bolt lock keeps them secure.

To maintain a set temperature between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit, the True STR1R-1S-HC reach-in refrigerator uses a capillary tube system filled with R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant. Condenser and evaporator fans produce consistent airflow, reducing energy use and heat production. To help increase the unit's lifespan, debris from the condensing coil is blown off every time the compressor is turned on. Using reverse condensing fan motor technology, air is directed toward the coil for 20 seconds; this mechanism can help the coil operate more efficiently over time because of its cleaner surface. Reading in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, an external digital display tracks the cabinet's temperature. The door's frame can be cleaned quickly since its gaskets are a single, removable piece. When cleaning, users can reach under the unit by rolling it. Once the unit is cleaned, its front castors can be locked to keep it stationary.
