Hoshizaki AM-50BAJ Description
The Hoshizaki AM-50BAJ undercounter ice maker can produce as much as 51 pounds of top hat ice in 24 hours. This amount depends on ambient air temperature and incoming water temperature—the lower they are, the more ice the machine makes. To create ice cubes, its air-cooled condenser uses R134A refrigerant. Airflow is provided in and out of the front of the unit for consistent operation. Because this self-contained unit features an air-cooled condenser and few moving parts, it can run for a long time.
When staff are cleaning the Hoshizaki AM-50BAJ undercounter ice maker, the water circuit can be disassembled. The storage bin can hold as much as 22 pounds of ice while waiting for use. Including an easily accessible power switch, this unit can be operated without removing the panel. This unit takes up minimal space as it is less than 34 inches tall, making it easy to slide underneath a counter.

Do not buy
"Bought this less than 1 year the sensor quit working. Called for repair take 2 weeks to finish. Few months later the pump quit working and ice don't come out. Called for service and it been 2+ months no parts available so i don't have ice for Xmas party. Bought a new Monitowoc under counter ice machine with pump drain and it work really well. Ice looks better when done Ice making Very quick Not as loud Lower price"

My 2nd Hoshizaki
"My second one if this model. I got 12 years out of the first one. My friends and family love the top hat I've. Great for bourbon on the rocks, and ice tea as well. The new model is a little quieter than my previous one, but still noticeable. But once the bin fills up, I hardly notice it."

"This is my second of the same. The first is over 10 years old and has been great. The new unit is very loud and sounds like the pump case is grinding on the impellers. The quality control is not what it used to be."

No help at all once machine arrived!
"Bought AM-50BAJ to replace my 14 year old AM-50BAE and it arrived very timely and in good condition. Installed and it works fine BUT it is at least twice as loud as my old one and is now making horrible noises when making ice. KaTom's solution, contact Hoshizaki it is their problem. Well you sold me an obviously defective machine but just want to push down the road. Nobody wants a brand new machine gone through by a technician replacing parts that is just a sign of bad things to come down the road. I feel an obvious lemon should be replaced."

"love this ice machine- the ice is solid and lasts for a very long time- great mushroom shape- this is a high quality Japanese made machine - and I was excited to find one that fits underneath the counter- if you are looking into purchasing one of these- I'd consider this one first- the scottsman was a close second for me- but this was a $100 cheaper."
