Vulcan Fryers: What You Need to Know

Vulcan deep fryers are simple to maintain and operate, which is ideal for any establishment that utilizes fryers. Vulcan commercial fryers are available with different control systems, ensuring you get a unit you can comfortably operate. You can also choose between a built-in or portable filtration system, depending on what works best for your establishment. In the section below, we’ll go over commonly asked questions regarding Vulcan deep fryers.

Common Questions About Vulcan Deep Fryers

What are the benefits in using a Vulcan deep fryer?

Vulcan fryers are available with a range of cutting-edge features that ease operation while saving money on labor, oil, gas, and electricity. The majority of the tanks are constructed of stainless steel, so they can withstand heavy use, and with four different control systems, they are easy to operate.

Control systems offered include basic snap-action controls and precision solid-state controls. Snap action, also known as standing pilot, does not require an electronic connection. Solid-state controls enable the user to set the exact temperature and the unit will hold that within 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Digital, analog, and computer controls are also available. The option of two different filtration systems also ensures you can choose the best one for your business.

What’s the difference between open-pot and tube-type frypots?

Vulcan deep fryers also come with an open-pot or tube-type frypot. Tube-type frypots are equipped with tubes that transfer heat to the oil, and these tubes sit above the frypot’s bottom, which creates a cold zone. Sediment and crumbs settle at the bottom, preventing them from being scorched and ruining the oil. The cold zone can make it more difficult to clean due to the crevices; however, oil lasts longer in tube-type fryers.

Open-pot fryers are heated by an external source, which directly heats the frypot so the frypot heats the oil. They are simple to empty but scorch more debris than tube-type frypots, causing the oil to get dirty.

What special features are available?

Both Vulcan gas fryers and Vulcan electric fryers are available with a variety of special features. Tube-type fryers feature a large cold zone, which remains cooler than the fryer zone and prevents debris from burning and making the oil dirty.

Built-in flue deflectors send excess heat and fumes to the hood system that is mounted above the unit, making the fryer safe for use. Stainless steel construction makes the fryers durable, easy to clean, and resistant to corrosion. Some units are also equipped with stainless steel filter mesh screens that filter from two sides.

Vulcan also has countertop models available for establishments that can't accommodate a floor model. Plastic coated handles on fry baskets make the baskets easy to handle, while also preventing burns.
