MoTak Ice Machine Warranties Explained

MoTak Ice Warranty

KaTom Restaurant Supply's new line of MoTak equipment includes commercial ice machines. Besides the quality you get for an economic price, one of the benefits of a MoTak ice machine is that KaTom can process your warranty claims directly. A good warranty can ensure you get at least a fair return on investment for your purchase if you follow the requirements set forth in the warranty. As with any commercial warranty, if the end user damages the machine or fails to maintain it properly, the warranty will be voided. However, if you keep the machine in good working order and something still goes wrong within the warranty period, we'll be more than happy to fix it for you at no charge.

The MoTak warranty covers the parts and labor of your new MoTak ice machine for one year.

What's Covered by Your MoTak Warranty

For the first year of ownership, failure of the machine will be covered by the warranty. This covers parts — which refers to any equipment needed to get your machine running again – and labor, which refers to the service costs associated with having a licensed professional repair your machine. The machine's failure must result from a manufacturing defect and not from operator abuse or negligence. For a year from your purchase date, if the machine is not up to our standards, we'll repair it for you at no cost. This is both to reassure you that you'll receive a good value for your purchase and because we want to ensure every operator is happy doing business with us. The same customer service you get with KaTom will help you walk through any warranty claims you have. Of course, we hope you don't need to take advantage of the policy.

What isn't covered by my MoTak ice machine warranty?

The MoTak ice machine warranty does not cover normal adjustments and maintenance. These procedures are specified in the MoTak ice machine manual included with your purchase. In there, you'll find all the information necessary to adjust your ice machine to meet your specific needs. You'll also find the routine maintenance you must perform to keep your ice machine running. Like with all commercial warranties, damage caused by user error or negligence will not be covered by the warranty.

What voids my warranty?

Insufficient maintenance is one of the main ways a warranty can be voided, so it's important that you thoroughly review the manual and learn what is expected of you. Cleaning and maintaining an ice machine usually doesn't take that much time overall, but if you forget or put it off too long, it can result in machine failure that you'll be forced to pay for, either in repairs or by purchasing a new machine. Another common way operators inadvertently void their warranty is by trying to repair a broken machine themselves. Repairing the machine can be tempting, especially for a busy restaurateur who needs it to keep working to satisfy customers, but a pair of inexperienced hands will often cause more harm than good.

Many problems can be fixed quickly by the operator without calling in a serviceperson. The manual specifies common problems alongside solutions that you're free to attempt, but if the machine has truly failed, you'll need to wait for a licensed servicer to come fix it or risk voiding the warranty.

Failure caused by external damage is not covered by the warranty. While these sizeable restaurant appliances may seem hard to break, a careless accident in just the right place can cause failure. As with any other piece of equipment, be careful not to damage the intricate workings of your MoTak ice machine.

One last note: Failure caused by exposing the machine to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit is not covered by the warranty. Operators must take precautions if their machine will be in conditions colder than 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
