Manitowoc Warranty and Service Guide

Understanding Manitowoc Warranty Policies

Manitowoc equipment is reliable in commercial settings, but in case of defects, the company's warranty policies ensure your investment is protected. Prior to filing a warranty claim, familiarize yourself with Manitowoc's product warranty policies, including what is and isn't covered and the different policies for different equipment. Keep reading to find out if your Manitowoc equipment is covered – and what to do if you happen to encounter any equipment issues.

What's Covered by Manitowoc Warranties?

As with any product warranty, Manitowoc's policies include some limitations. Knowing the parameters and exceptions can potentially save you time when deciding how to tackle any issues your equipment might experience. Manitowoc only covers defects or damages that are a result of manufacturer error, not anything due to improper use or installation. Carefully read the included literature with your product to ensure you're following the recommended installation instructions.

Exclusions From Manitowoc's Product Warranty

  • Improper Use or Installation: Manitowoc doesn't accept responsibility for damages or defects caused by misuse or improper installation. Closely follow the installation guide and instructions for your equipment.

  • Regular Maintenance: Issues preventable by routine maintenance, such as cleaning, calibrating, or sanitizing, are considered the operator's responsibility, not the company's.

  • Accidents: According to its warranty policy, damage from natural events such as fire or floods, accidents, or that occurs during shipping, do not fall under Manitowoc's responsibility.

  • Unauthorized Parts or Repairs: If your equipment is modified by anyone other than a Manitowoc technician or fitted with parts from another manufacturer, any subsequent equipment issues will not be covered under warranty.

  • Exceeding Warranty Window: Manitowoc products are only covered by its warranty policies for a specific period of time. If your equipment has exceeded this time period, any issues will not be covered.
Operator Tip

Manitowoc specifies that its liability under its warranty policies does not exceed the cost originally paid for the equipment.

Manitowoc Ice Machine Warranty

Manitowoc ice machines remain under warranty for a period of 3 years after the original installation. This installation must occur within 5 years of the manufacture date, so if you've purchased a secondhand unit or a model older than 5 years, your equipment won't qualify for warranty coverage from Manitowoc. In addition to the standard 3-year warranty on ice makers, the compressor and evaporator are covered for an additional 2 years. The costs covered by the warranty include parts, components, or assemblies, as well as standard labor charges at the servicing location.

Manitowoc Ice Storage Bin & Dispenser Warranty

Manitowoc's ice storage bins and dispensers carry a separate warranty policy from ice makers. A 3-year parts and labor warranty begins upon original installation of any ice bin or dispenser. Accessory Ice Transport Carts carry a 2-year parts and labor warranty. Similar to the ice machine warranty policy, this policy is not valid on any equipment installed more than 5 years after manufacture, and the costs covered include parts, components, assemblies, and standard labor charges.

Manitowoc Residential Ice Machine Warranty

Because of the very different applications and environment, Manitowoc ice machines intended for residential use fall under a separate warranty policy. Rather than the 3-year warranty on commercial units, residential Manitowoc ice machines carry a 1-year limited warranty. Replacement parts on residential equipment are covered for 90 days or the balance of the original warranty period, depending on which is longer. If Manitowoc determines your warranty claim is valid, it will cover the cost and standard labor of repairing or replacing the damaged component – or it will refund the cost of the product.

Operator Tip

Manitowoc's warranty on residential equipment is limited only to the original consumer. It can't be transferred to another person for any reason.
