LK Packaging Custom Bags

There are many generic plastic bag options for businesses to take advantage of, but in some cases only custom will do. LK Packaging, formerly known as Elkay Plastics, can help you create exactly the look you want, whether you require a specific size bag for certain back-of-house operations, want to expand your marketing by putting your logo on shopping bags, or need custom poly bags that go home with customers. Below, we cover the basics of LK Packaging's custom bag program and how KaTom can help you through the process of design the perfect bags for your business.
What is Possible?
Many types of bags from LK Packaging can be customized. The type of bag you need will determine the plastic options available, as well as the size and printing options. Some of the types of bags available include:
- Drawstring bags
- Fold-over die-cut handle bags
- Flush-cut die-cut handle bags
- M-fold bags
- Center-fold bags
- Slide-seal bags
- Square-bottom bags
- Anti-static bags
- Micro-perforated bags
- Bags with hang holes
- Side-seal bags
- Watertight/leak-proof bags
- Seal-top bags
- Bags on perforated rolls
- Pallet covers
- Bin liners
- T-shirt bags
- Merchandise bags
- Silverware bags
- Tinted bags
While the type of bag you need may limit the types of plastic you can choose from, LK Packaging has several options. Low-density polyethylene can be used with food, as can its stronger counterpart, linear low-density polyethylene. High-density polyethylene doesn't meet the FDA and USDA requirements for use with unpackaged food, but is a durable alternative commonly used in retail and industrial settings. Polypropylene is ideal for keeping products fresh thanks to its vapor and moisture barriers, and its translucence makes displaying products simple.
Additives are also available that bring certain properties to the plastic. High clarity makes the items in the bag more visible and ultraviolet inhibitor helps keep the bag strong even when exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Metallocene adds strength to the bag, as does EVA, which can also improve sealing ability and help prevent breakage in cold conditions.
When you are planning your bag design, it is important to consider the bag's shape, size, and material. Most bags can be printed with six colors per side, but some can have as many as eight per side. This allows most logos to be printed with little or no alteration, and can give graphic designers direction once they know the parameters they have to work within.
Short-run Custom Bag Program
Most custom bag orders are large runs, but it is also possible to get LK Packaging custom plastic bags printed in smaller batches. There are fewer options for smaller printings, but they are a good opportunity for businesses that don't want to commit to larger runs. Below are the options available for short-run custom bags from LK Packaging.
- Side Weld: These bags are made of polyethylene and can be printed on one side in one or two colors. Side-weld bags can be ordered in quantities from 50 to 500 bags.
- Seal-top Reclosable: Reclosable bags are used when items may need to be kept fresh after the bag is opened. These can be printed on one side in one or two colors in quantities from 5,000 to 50,000 bags.
- Bottom Seal: Bottom-seal bags can be flat or gusset style and are often suggested for heavy-duty uses because they provide the strongest seals. As part of the short-run custom bag program, this bag cannot be printed on, but can be sold in custom sizes in orders from 50 to 500 bags.
