Find the Right Globe Charbroiler for Your Commercial Kitchen

Globe Gas Charbroilers

Countertop charbroilers are popular additions to restaurants with steak, chicken, hamburgers, fish, and shrimp on the menu. These types of proteins are often grilled, and charbroilers can give them classic grill markings and a delicious smoked flavor. Globe, a leading provider of food prep and cooking equipment, offers a line of gas charbroilers with a variety of options to ensure operators can find one that meets the needs of their commercial kitchens.

Understanding Globe Charbroiler Options and Features

Before you begin selecting your Globe charbroiler, you should consider how much space is available in your kitchen's layout. These countertop charbroilers are available in four widths: 15 inches, 24 inches, 36 inches, and 48 inches. In addition to determining its cooking area, the width of your charbroiler will determine how many burners your model includes. Stainless steel U-style burners provide flame every 6 inches and heat control every 12 inches, so a 15-inch charbroiler has a single burner and a 48-inch charbroiler has four burners.

Globe also offers two types of charbroilers: radiant heat models and char rock models. Charbroilers that use radiant heat may come with stainless steel radiants or cast iron radiants. Stainless steel is the more economical option, though cast iron provides superior heat retention and more even heating. Char rock charbroilers come with a heavy-duty cast iron grid that should be placed over the burners. The number of char rocks required for operating each model increases by 30 for each width option; that means operators should use 30 rocks with a 15-inch-wide charbroiler, and 120 rocks with a 48-inch-wide model.

For operator convenience and versatility, Globe charbroilers can be set up as a combination unit with both radiant heat and char rocks. The table below illustrates the differences in each model's dimensions, cooking area, burners, and total BTUs.

No matter which style you choose, your Globe charbroiler will come standard with several features that enable it to withstand the demands of a fast-paced foodservice operation and provide a high-quality final product. Each charbroiler includes heavy-duty cast iron grates that have a drip flavor edge. These grates are reversible and can be installed flat or angled, which lets excess grease drip down to the grease trough. The stainless steel catch tray is removable, so it can be easily cleaned. For operator comfort and safety, the double-walled construction on the front and sides is insulated, providing a front edge that stays cool to the touch.
