As much as 40 gallons of soups, stews, and chilis can be prepared in the Crown Steam EL-40 stationary steam kettle. A jacket of steam surrounds the lower two-thirds of the kettle for a consistent, even heat source. Users can set the kettle's temperature to a level from 165 to 285 degrees Fahrenheit.

The interior liner of the Crown Steam EL-40 steam kettle is made of 316 stainless steel, which is a durable metal that can endure cooking with acidic foods. Its exterior is made of stainless steel also. A counter-balanced cover is included to hold heat within the kettle, and a draw-off valve with a perforated strainer enables operators to remove liquid from the bottom of the kettle.
