Koolaire KYT1700A Description
The Koolaire KYT-1700A ice maker head starts production when its toggle switch is set to "ice." Air cools the refrigerant lines, which then cool the evaporator plate. Water flowing over the plate freezes into individual cells until an ice thickness float switch shuts off the water flow. Ice thickness is measured by a harvest probe, which then turns off the air cooling the refrigerant lines. When the evaporator plate warms up, its ice is released and dumped in a bin or dispenser (sold separately).
Water must flow through the food zone before it reaches the evaporator plate and turns to ice. This area can be affected by mineral buildup, so it should be cleaned regularly. Staff can remove its components for cleanup after two screws and the door are removed. The Koolaire KYT-1700A ice machine produces 1,800 pounds if conditions are ideal but produces 1,380 pounds on average. Half-cube ice quickly cools liquids due to its surface area, but it melts more quickly than full-cube ice.
