Koolaire KDP0500W-161/K400 Description
The Koolaire KDP0500W-161/K400 ice maker can produce 478 pounds of ice when ambient air and incoming water reach specific temperatures, but the amount of ice likely to be produced in the average kitchen is 420 pounds. Water that runs over the evaporator plate to freeze into ice first goes through the food zone. This area is susceptible to scale buildup, so it needs to be cleaned often. Components in the food zone are removable to support the cleaning process. The head's exterior has a smudge- and corrosion-resistant finish.
Once ice has formed on the evaporator plate, it is warmed and released into the bin. The Koolaire KDP0500W-161/K400 ice bin holds 365 pounds of ice, and to prevent it from quickly melting, the door to the bin has been foam insulated. It stays open while operators scoop ice to free up their hands. A holder for the scoop sits inside the bin to keep it from touching the ice, so contaminants are less likely to spread. This bin also has a corrosion-resistant exterior finish with black side panels.
