Koolaire KDP0500A-161/K400 Description
If air and water conditions are at ideal temperatures, the Koolaire KDP0500A-161/K400 ice maker with bin can produce 502 pounds daily. It makes full-cube ice, each cube measuring 0.875 inch by 0.875 inch by 0.875 inch. These cubes are large and slow melting, so they are ideal for drinks in restaurants and bars. An air-cooled condenser blows cold air over the refrigerant coils to cool the liquid, which then cools the evaporator plate. When the plate is cooled, water on it freezes to form ice.
Components in the ice maker that come in contact with water and ice are located in the food zone, which is accessible behind the lift-off door and has white plastic components. This material resists corrosion and shows dirt and slime buildup, so users know when cleaning is needed. To simplify cleaning, some of the components are removable.
As much as 365 pounds of ice can be stored in the Koolaire KDP0500A-161/K400 ice machine with bin. Door insulation keeps cold air around the ice, so it will not melt quickly; this also prevents condensation from accumulating. With the stay-open design, this door is not in the way when operators use the 82-ounce scoop.
