Hobart FD4/500-1 Description
To break down food waste efficiently, the Hobart FD4/500-1 food waste disposer features a continuous-duty motor, 24 grinding teeth, and an angled, 105⁄8-inch-diameter flywheel. This flywheel can be raised or lowered to adjust the cutting gap, and it automatically starts in an opposite direction each time it's used to minimize jamming and prolong grinding elements' service life. For high-volume applications, this unit's bearings are permanently lubricated, and its motor features an inherent overload protection mechanism.
The Hobart FD4/500-1 commercial garbage disposer measures 171⁄2 inches in diameter by 273⁄8 inches high and can be attached to a 7-inch I.D. throat-opening cone. A vinyl isolating ring reduces noise and vibration because it prevents metal-to-metal contact at the cone's mounting area. Built to last in high-traffic settings, its upper housing is heavy-duty ductile iron, while its lower housing is primed, painted ductile gray cast iron lower housing. Four included bolts fasten its motor unit to the grind chamber to simplify removal when needed. To position the housing appropriately beneath a sink, it's fitted with tubular steel legs and flanged feet that can be adjusted by 3 inches.
