Its self-contained condenser is air cooled and uses R404A refrigerant.

The Hoshizaki KM-1601SAJ/B-1500SS ice machine with bin has a pouch-style door with walls and a bottom that are insulated to retain as much ice as possible and prevent condensation from forming on the door. To streamline cleaning, the bin is lined with seamless polyethylene, and the included ice scoop also repels bacteria.
