The REAL difference between R-21LVF and R-21LTF

I thought I did my due diligence but none of the side-by-side comparisons I saw mentioned that the LVF does not have an option to adjust the power setting. Like, at all! You can only cook at 100% with this model. Our new R-21LVF replaces the one just like it but with the 4th button to adjust the power level. We loved it, it is small and perfectly fit our space, and it is easy to use. We had it 8 years and inherited it so it probably went more like 12. Great experience from Katom. I just wish I'd known about the missing ability to adjust the power level.

Our daily driver, we can't kill it

5 Yr Update, Installed Jan 2018, daily driver, over and over and over every day, 7 days a week, you can punch in the exact time you want to use it, highest time we use it is 11 minutes, or hit one of the 10 presets, thoughtfully pre programmed (which you can change if you wish) into a whole lotta different times from 10 seconds to 3 minutes . . handle, door, hinges, case, cavity, all durable and reasonably cleanable, (it is NSF rated) . . we hardly ever stop the cycle to change the plates' location, but we can if we need to, so eliminates the grief and failure rates of the turntable . . Not sure what the reviews that don't like it mean . . but we can't seem to kill it, and it still is easy to clean . . .the ONLY gripe we've found is the plastic cover over the fan inside gets in the way of large bowls of chili/soup, etc, when you try to push them in the cavity, they fit fine, it just makes putting them in a little awkward . . . We also raised it up a little on taller legs to more easily clen UNDER it.

Sharp R-21LVF - Great Smaller Microwave

I like the simplicity of use of these commercial microwaves. Push a preset and the microwave turns on instantly. Perfect. I like that this microwave does not need a turntable and it seems to heat as evenly as any other microwave I have used. It looks nice and feels durable. Nice handle and door which can be pushed and let go to close. I am going to buy another Sharp or similar microwave to use at another home. To me it is worth paying more for a microwave since it is used so often. If you don't like the presets, just reprogram them to whatever duration and power level you want.

Most impractical microwave I've ever used

This microwave is so badly designed. All you really need is a 30 second button, and to be able to add minutes easily. With this one? Hitting the 1 gets you ten seconds. Hitting the 3 gives you THREE MINUTES. Why??? And it starts within moments, so if you hit 3, within a couple seconds you've got a 3 minute cooking time blasting away, and have to hit cancel if you want to attempt a different time. It's also significantly hotter than a standard, so if something calls for 90 seconds better only do 60 or it'll burn. The door won't open by pulling unless you squeeze the handle. I absolutely hate this microwave, and would never recommend it. It's badly designed.

Works well

Nice that it does not spin your food, easier to put big ceramic pot in. Roomy enough, feels solid. I replaced a consumer microwave that had dozens of buttons and presets that did not really work with this. Has been a pleasure to use so far.

Nice overall quality

I bought this in Oct. 2014 and it has worked flawlessly. It is used in my home because I can't stand the poor quality of residential microwaves. This is nice quality and no louder than a home use microwave. This is MUCH heavier than a home microwave. It heats very fast. The only down to it is the stainless outer shell is quite thin. Blends in nicely in the kitchen. Contacted Sharp and was told they would honor warranty in a home. I wanted Amana but they do not. Very happy with the purchase from KaTom.
