Vollrath 40717 Description
Measuring 36 inches wide by 16 1⁄2 inches deep, the Vollrath 40717 electric griddle has three separately controlled cooking zones. Operators can adjust the temperature of each zone on the front-mounted control knobs. While the knobs have guards to eliminate the risk of accidental changes, each zone can be heated to 570 degrees Fahrenheit. Providing even heat distribution, the elements are positioned under the cooking surface, and this unit heats up quickly and recovers heat after food is added to the 1⁄2-inch-thick plate.
Side and rear splash guards are integrated into this Vollrath 40717 commercial griddle, catching debris and grease splatter to keep nearby surfaces clean. Grease is collected in an internal pan that can be removed to ease cleaning, while the stainless steel front and side splashes resist corrosion, dents, and scratches. Adjustable legs elevate the unit and keep it stable on countertops.

Follow up to my last review
"! would give this -5 stars if I could!!!! bought and installed this grill at my deli June 8 2022.and it caught on fire Sept. 10 2022... 3 MONTHS LATER!!. Apparently this unit is not properly sealed, somehow grease got into the unit around the middle thermostat knob and shorted "burnt" the circuit where the unit was smoking and sparking uncontrollably until I shut the breaker off!! I've never written a review about ANYTHING in my life but I felt compelled to in this case!! I've been in business over 25 years and own plenty of commercial equipment and this is by far the worse!!" Ok so the company Volrath did replace this grill for me, they were great, BUT 8 months later it happened again, this grill is not made for any place that cooks all day long!!! So now i gave up and purchased a heavy duty gas grill DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT if you plan on doing any kind of real business

Works OK
Grill heats & cooks fine. However the one we got the griddle top is uneven and seems to have bad welds on the edges, grease is dripping out of the bottom of the grill due to the broken welds. the grease trap also has bad welds which we were able to fix with JB weld, due to grease leaking out of the corners. Found this out when we washed it when water started dripping out the corners. After patching the grease trap oil is still dripping out from the bottom, which is why we are assuming the griddle top welds are also bad.
