Browne 5117 Description

With its seasoned wood construction, the Browne 5117 pizza peel is strong and heat resistant. This material handles heavy dough without bending, although it should not be washed in a dishmachine or soaked in water. The blade's tip and sides are tapered to slide underneath pizza dough; the blade itself measures 14 inches by 14 inches to accommodate medium pizzas. This peel is 24 inches long, overall, so users can place pizza safely in hot ovens.

Excellent for transfering dough

I bought this on a friend's recommendation that I should have one for transferring my bread dough to and from the oven. I have yet to use it for pizza dough but find it works wonderfully for my breads with a little bit of cornmeal. There is just enough of a taper edge to work just right and the long handle kept my hand a safe distance from the heat of a hot oven.

well made, thin tapered edge, great price

I routinely treat this natural wood with an edible mineral oil found in the prescription/medicine area of most larger stores. This prevents the wood from absorbing water and splitting at the glue points.
