Edlund 11100 Description
This Edlund 11100 number one can opener has an arbor made of melonite for simple gear changing and rust resistance. The insert placed over the plastic base smooths gliding and is removable for replacement. Its spool over the handle is made of Delrin plastic, so it rubs with low friction against the handle to keep it operating longer without wear and tear. This can opener can accommodate various can sizes with an 11-inch maximum height.

Who Approved this Design?
I am pretty sure no one at Edlund put this design through a test phase before releasing it into production. All of our kitchen can openers were recently replaced with this model and ALL of the columns wobble to the degree that liquids originally inside the can splash out onto the counter and floor. It's such a mess a mop is needed. I am just the guy opening 15-20 large cans several times per week but if I ordered them they would be rejected and returned to the distributor. What is Edlund thinking?
We would buy this product again.
This is a assume product. Ladies in our concession loves it. It's easy to use and so much easier than the old way of opening can.
I am going to buy another one very soon
I use it all the time for especially #10 cans. The next one I want to buy I would like to have the sea clamp on so I could use it on my kitchen bar
It works GREAT! Just like it was supposed to.
I only open about one case of cans a week. The Edlund can openers are the best on the market!
"Old Reliable" not so Reliable
We've had our Edlund #1 can opener for over 25 years, still worked "okay" but was worn out, even after replacing the working parts several times. We decided to invest in a new can opener. Knowing how great our old Edlund was we decided to purchase the new "Old Reliable". What a mistake! The plastic base insert allows the opener's shaft to "wiggle" around, way too much movement and the base is extremely thin plated metal which looks as if it may break at any time while opening a can. Keep your old model #1 and keep buying the replacement parts.
Reliable and there to stay
The can opener is used in our church kitchen to open all size cans. We were using hand held manual openers but would slip their grip or disappear. The Edlund is reliable and stays put since it is screwed to the counter top. The opener is not difficult to use it does require effort. We see it as a permanent fixture for years to come in our church kitchen.
