Adding U-Line Nitro Brew Systems to Your Business

U-Line Nitro Brew

U-Line's new nitro cold brew systems can add eye-catching, interest-generating revenue streams to your business. Cold brew coffee and nitro coffee are massively popular, with cold beverages growing 45 percent for Starbucks over the past four years. Cold brew coffee is a sweet, smooth brew that avoids the potential bitterness pourover brewing can generate. Nitro infusion brings a subtle creaminess to your coffee and creates an attractive foam on top. Offering cold brew coffee, nitro coffee, or both together can make your business stand out from the competition, and U-Line Nitro Brew systems with JoeTap Nitro taps are reliable, cost-effective ways to put them on your menu.

U-Line Nitro Cold Brew Coffee

Cold brew coffee often is confused with iced coffee, but iced coffee is brewed hot and cooled down, while cold brew coffee is brewed cold and (usually) served cold as well. This technique takes longer to extract flavor from coffee grounds but produces a less acidic, less bitter final product. Cold brew is thought to be sweeter as well and can be considered healthier because that sweetness means people can use less sweetener in their coffee to achieve the desired taste. The combination of cold brew with nitro infusion creates Nitro cold brew, which is quickly becoming a premium coffee preference.

Of course, premium drinks convey a premium price. With U-Line Nitro cold brew coffee, the biggest change to your establishment is in how the drink is prepared rather than the cost of ingredients. Once you've added a U-Line Nitro Brew system to your establishment, the only cost increase will be in replacing nitrogen tanks, which is a small change compared to the increased profit you'll make on a cup of nitro cold brew compared to standard black coffee.

Nitro cold brew coffee has a smooth, creamy taste and a velvety mouthfeel, which lets it stand out against more common hot coffees. The nitro infusion creates foam at the top of the coffee, replacing the calories and effort required to froth milk in specialty coffees such as lattes. You can offer rich, foamy coffee at a lower calorie point than those using cream and milk. U-Line Nitro Brew also generates a rich, golden color that can set it apart from your other offerings.

How Could U-Line Nitro Brew Increase Profits?

If you can implement your U-Line Nitro Brew system to draw in customers, drive new sales, or increase profit made from existing customers, it can swiftly pay for itself. With JoeTap Nitro dispensers, coffee from U-Line Nitro systems is uniquely smooth and flavorful. Operators can expand their menu to include all sorts of new nitro-infused coffee drinks that can potentially sell for several dollars more per cup than their non-nitro counterparts. If your customer base has an appetite for gourmet coffee, nitro brew options can appeal to their palates without requiring expensive ingredients or laborious preparation.

Not only can nitro cold brew coffee increase the profit you make off an individual drink, but it also can attract additional customers to your business. Nitro coffee and cold brew coffee are newcomers to the market, which means customers may be interested in trying them out, especially if you can offer a unique spin on the drinks. Many operators thrive in this area, as the JoeTap nitrogen infusers on the U-Line dispensers can function with a range of other drinks, including tea, kombucha, and wine. They can also refrigerate the contents of the dispenser, ensuring every drink you serve is both safe and at the appropriate temperature.

The JoeTap system infuses nitrogen into whatever liquid is running through the dispenser. This means whatever coffee your cafe is famous for can have a nitro infusion and become an interesting new favorite without changing the recipe at all. These dispensers are not intended for use with hot coffee, which is why the most common nitro drink is iced or cold brew coffee.

What Options Are Available on a U-Line Nitro Brew System?

Most of our U-Line Nitro Brew units function in the same way – JoeTap nozzles infuse nitrogen bubbles into the drink as it's dispensed, giving you that wonderful nitro texture. The main choice you'll make is the overall size of the unit, which should be determined by the space available and the expected volume of use. If you're just adding nitro brew to your menu, you may want to start with a smaller U-Line machine – you won't have an existing customer base for it, so your volume will begin low. If it gets to be popular, you can add an extra machine to keep up with demand, and if it remains a niche order, you're not out a lot of capital.

All U-Line Nitro Brew units include JoeTap nitro infusion taps, so you don't need to worry about which taps to choose. However, you will need to make a few other choices regarding your U-Line machine:

  • Number of taps – one, two, or four
  • Width – will it fit in your kitchen?
  • Dual beverages – will you want to serve more than one beverage at a time?
  • Refrigeration – not all units come with refrigeration to keep the beverages cold
  • Accessories – extra coffee tanks, nitrogen tanks, and connecting gear

Consult the product specifications page for the individual unit you're considering to see what sort of accessories accompany the purchase, as well as which ones you may need to add on.

Cleaning the System

Cleaning the U-Line Nitro Brew system is fast and easy, which helps ensure your establishment stays on a good cleaning schedule. U-Line includes a safe but powerful cleaning solution with most Nitro Brew systems. Concentrated solution packets are mixed with warm water to create a sanitizing solution you can then use to clean almost every aspect of your machine. The following is a quick rundown of the cleaning steps for a U-Line Nitro Brew system, but you should still consult the specifics of your machine before cleaning it.

  1. Mix one pack of ULACOFFEECLEAN with two gallons of warm, potable water.
  2. Disassemble the tap heads and soak them in cleaning solution for 5 minutes, then reassemble.
  3. Disassemble infuser filter, rinse with warm, potable water, then reassemble.
  4. Ensure the keg system isn't pressurized by turning the nitrogen handle clockwise.
  5. Clean the keg with warm, soapy water, then rinse.
  6. Pour the cleaning solution into the keg, reattach, then repressurize.
  7. Put a bucket under the taps.
  8. Run half a gallon of cleaning solution through each tap, then discard solution.
  9. Leave the remaining cleaning solution in the system for at least 5 minutes.
  10. Evenly dispense the remaining solution through the taps.
  11. No rinsing is required, so you can immediately use the keg again, or leave it to dry.
