An Introduction to Cambro Camshelving
Cambro manufactures its own line of commercial shelving units to meet the extensive storage needs of foodservice operations and commercial businesses. Camshelving® offers hundreds of options from three series: Basics Plus, Elements XTRA, and Premium. Each series is distinguished by its own features and benefits, which we'll explain below.
Why Choose Camshelving?
Each Cambro Camshelving series is versatile and durable, making this line an appealing choice for foodservice operators throughout the industry.
A primary benefit of these products is the ease of assembly. Camshelving is designed for simple installation, and each unit is shipped with preassembled frames that let you start connecting the shelving as soon as you receive it. Once assembled, Camshelving is strong and durable; it can safely withstand temperatures from -36 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit and features Camguard® antimicrobial integrated into the shelf plates for increased sanitation.
In addition to the antimicrobial Camguard, each series of Camshelving features shelving plates designed to be run through a dishwasher cycle as needed.
Camshelving: Basics Plus
For an economical shelving solution, many operators look to Cambro's Basics Plus series. At the lowest price point of the three Camshelving lines, Basic Plus units are an alternative to wire or aluminum shelves and feature a resistance to rust and corrosion even when exposed to salt or harsh chemicals. These units are easy to assemble and maintain, and when outfitted with a dunnage stand, Basics Plus single units can hold as much as 2,100 pounds.
Both starter and add-on units are available in the Basics Plus series, which offers vented and solid shelves. Although there are no mobile options available in this series, the shelving units can easily be constructed to adapt to angles and corners.
Camshelving: Elements XTRA
A step up from the Basics Plus series, Elements XTRA Camshelving – the newest of the three series and an updated version of the previous Elements series – is manufactured with more durable materials. Cambro recommends this series for use in slightly harsher foodservice environments, such as freezers, busy dishwashing stations, and other environments with higher humidity levels, as they can stand up to more wear and tear than the Basics Plus series.
The Elements XTRA series features both stationary and mobile units. It also includes half the number of parts as the Basics Plus series with a smooth, solid construction that facilitates cleaning. New corner connectors reinforce the unit's weak spots, promising that the unit's corners won't be any weaker than the rest of the unit in shelving configurations up to 60 inches wide. With a dunnage stand, a single unit can hold 2,800 pounds.
While all existing accessories for the earlier Camshelving Elements series are compatible with the new Elements XTRA series, the shelves and posts are not interchangeable.
Camshelving: Premium
The Premium series is the highest grade of Camshelving. It features the same smooth assembly process as the previous series with even greater durability—suitable for the highest density storage needs. Premium Camshelving is available in stationary or mobile units, and this series includes a special high-density storage system that's specially configured for storing large volumes of supplies in compact spaces.
Durable enough for use in harsh environments and with some models capable of holding 2,400 pounds, the Premium series is the toughest of all Camshelving products. If you're running a large, fast-paced establishment with high-traffic storage or warewashing areas, then the Premium series could be the smartest investment for you.
