Arctic Blue Line Walk-Ins
Offering a simpler, more economical alternative to custom-built walk-in units, Arctic's Blue Line is a collection of pre-built walk-in cooler and freezer units designed to be installed into an existing space. By combining a cooler and freezer into one unit, the Blue Line collection further helps save operators space and money. While there are some standard inclusions in any Blue Line product, each unit has specifications and optional features to take into consideration. Below, we'll outline the standard and customizable features available with these models to help you decide which best suits your needs.
Arctic Blue Line Standard Features
Blue Line walk-ins have some common features that make them a suitable choice for many foodservice operations. Each unit is comprised of tongue and groove panels sealed with NSF-approved vinyl gaskets, insulated with Energy Code Compliant urethane foam, and includes some features for safety, such as a spring-assist door closer, door heater, and pressure relief valve. The door of each Blue Line model is centered, self-closing, flush mounted, and foamed in place, featuring a kick plate and a key-lock handle. An interior safety release handle prevents employees from being trapped inside the unit, while a vapor-proof door light improves visibility.
These shared features ensure Blue Line products will be safe and reliable, but Arctic also offers plenty of options to further ensure your walk-in will work for your unique operation.
Arctic Blue Line Optional Features
Because Arctic's Blue Line series is a collection of pre-built walk-in units, the customization options are more limited than they would be for built-in units. However, there are still plenty of ways to tailor your Blue Line unit.
Floor Options
Blue Line units are available with or without a floor, depending on where you intend to install your walk-in. For installation above grade – grade simply meaning the bottom floor of a building – a floor will be required. However, if you plan to install your Blue Line unit at grade and on a bare concrete surface, then a floor is not necessary. However, an insulated floor can still help improve the efficiency of your walk-in, regardless of installation location. Arctic also gives the option to include an interior or exterior ramp to assist with loading large, heavy items into the walk-in unit.
Floorless models feature NSF-approved, coved-base vinyl screeds. In models including a floor, the surface is coated with smooth aluminum. Both floorless and floored models include an Acrylume finish on all available surfaces to help minimize oxidation and fingerprints.
Refrigeration Options
Arctic's Blue Line includes coolers, freezers, and combination units that all come pre-assembled, but the company does provide customers with a choice between self-contained or remote refrigeration. The self-contained models, which run on a hot gas condensate system, don't require plumbing but may require an electrical connection to be hardwired. If you plan to install your walk-in outdoors or in a room without air conditioning, the self-contained system may be a more suitable choice. Additionally, models fitted with Blue Line's EcoNet® system feature an electronically operated evaporator that leads to savings on energy costs over time.
Arctic's EcoNet system is compatible with Blue Line models utilizing R404 or R448/449 refrigerant. Keep this in mind if you plan to purchase an EcoNet-enabled model.
Other Accessories
Blue Line models can be further customized with a handful of other options provided by Arctic. In addition to the included lighting, a 4-inch LED light strip can be added inside the unit for improved visibility. Another popular addition to Blue Line units is a strip curtain, which helps maintain internal temperatures when the door is opened. Finally, Arctic also offers options for high ambient temperatures and outdoor units if your establishment doesn't include a suitable indoor installation area.
