Salvajor Commercial Garbage Disposal: What You Need to Know

The engineers at Salvajor understand efficiently managing the disposal of food waste generated in a foodservice operation is a crucial part of scrapping dishes and returning clean, sanitized dinnerware to your dining room. Whether your kitchen needs a disposer, disposer system, or collector, Salvajor commercial garbage disposal solutions offer the technology your operation needs to remove food waste while conserving as much water and energy as possible.

Common Questions About Salvajor Garbage Disposal

Which type of Salvajor disposer do I need?

Salvajor offers three types of food waste solutions: disposers, disposer systems, and collector systems. Which one you need can be determined by the size of your operation, the other equipment in your dishroom, and the sustainability of your business.

  • Disposers are installed under a sink to process food waste and safely dispose it into the main sewer line. You should consult Salvajor's full equipment sizing guide for more information on selecting the correct horsepower for your kitchen's output. However, Model 100 and 200 disposers are recommended for operations preparing fewer than 500 meals a day, while Model 300 and 500 disposers are recommended for operations preparing 500 or more meals a day. Disposer assembly packages include the disposer, controls, fixed nozzle, vacuum breaker, solenoid valve, and flow control. These are available in cone and sink mount assemblies.
  • Disposer systems are great for high-volume operations with a conveyor dish machine. This comprehensive Salvajor garbage disposal system is designed to leave both the dish washer's hands free, making the scrapping process more efficient so those working in the dishroom can better keep up with the dishwashing machine's hourly rate. The ScrapMaster can help dishroom employees keep up with a mid-sized dish machine and is available in a version large enough to accommodate full-sized sheet pans. The TroughVeyor improves efficiency by recirculating water down a trough. Salvajor's patented operator-sensing technology, which conserves water, is only available on ScrapMaster disposer systems.
  • Collector systems are a great choice for operators on a budget or those with a composting program. They're equipped with a scrap basket that collects fibrous and non-soluble food waste while washing soluble particles into the sewer, ultimately reducing the amount of food waste generated. These Salvajor systems can also be used in operations that compost their food waste or in businesses located in municipalities that have banned the use of food disposers.

What can't Salvajor disposers process?

These disposers can process a wide range of food waste, including fibrous materials, fruit pits, vegetable peels, and even small bones. However, there are several non-food waste items to avoid putting in your disposer:

  • China, glass, or plastic
  • Clam and oyster shells
  • Corrosive detergents
  • Drain cleaner
  • Metal (aluminum cans, bottle caps, tin)

Can I replace my current disposer with a Salvajor disposer?

As long as you have the correct adaptor kit, you can replace another manufacturer's disposer with a Salvajor model.
