A genuine Moscow Mule, a cocktail of ginger beer, vodka, and fresh lime juice, should always be served in a copper mug. The tradition of copper Moscow Mule mugs date back to the 1940's when the drink was invented by spirits distributor John G. Martin to help generate sales of the fledgling Smirnoff company's vodka.
