Chef's Knife

The chef's knife is the most versatile piece of cutlery in the commercial kitchen. It's used for a number of prep tasks, from slicing meat to mincing garlic. While most chefs' knives have the same shape, one that lends itself well to a variety of different tasks, the greatest difference is in size. Common lengths for a chefs' knife are 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches.
