Equipped with pre-programmed default settings and programmable settings for temperature, humidity, water and light cycles, and as many as 40 seed variations, the Carter-Hoffmann GC42 GardenChef™ microgreen and herb growing cabinet is versatile. Its eight-zone configuration accommodates (16) 10-inch by 20-inch growing flats with propagation domes as high as 5 inches. Each zone's two flats are placed on a removable growing shelf that can be pulled out to access product directly for removal, loading, and cleaning. Two high-output, 18-inch T5 fluorescent lights built into each zone provide even lighting for uniform growth, while the automatic pump irrigation system has flood and drain watering mechanisms to accommodate various settings.

Both the Carter-Hoffmann GC42 growing cabinet's doors are glass to provide a full view of product for inventory checks so users don't have to open the doors frequently, helping prevent disturbances to the interior cabinet environment. The stainless steel double-wall construction resists rust, corrosion, and wear from high-volume use to provide a long service life. Overall, this unit measures 66³⁄₄ inches wide by 28¹⁄₄ inches deep by 79 inches high, has a 63-inch interior working height and is mounted on 3-inch casters that swivel and brake.
