Vitamix Commercial 15985 Description

Leaks do not buy
I have my original Vitamix rubber lid sitting next to the new one, and note a few differences: The new one feels more "plastic" while the old lid is made of a dense rubber material. The new lid is stiffer, and lighter. It also has thinner walls. The section that forms the seal is also a couple millimeters shorter, which leads to less surface area making up the seal. All in all, the multiple obvious shortcuts that were taken in making this new lid cause it to be essentially worthless as it cannot provide an adequate seal when blending. I filled the container about half full (which is well below the max capacity of the container) and set the blender on high. Within a few seconds, it became obvious that the lid cannot provide an adequate seal for the container. Using this new lid would mean having to wipe around the base after *every* *single* *use!* This is not acceptable. To make matters worse, KaTom's policy is for no warranties for residential use. This means that even if this were a "manufacturer defect," I have no recourse for exchange or return because the warranty cannot be honored for a brand new item. Save your time/money and buy somewhere else.
