Excellent Mixer
I am so glad I decided to go with the 8qt. mixer. It is able to make a triple batch of cookie dough with ease. That's 11 cups of flour, 6 cups of sugar, 1.5 pounds of butter and over a pound of cream cheese. Works great. I do wish I had of purchased the silver color instead of black. Not sure what I was thinking. The silver would stay looking cleaner and not show flour as bad. Of course, I wipe it off everytime so I guess it doesn't make a difference. The paddles, whisk and dough hook are so much heavier than the professional model it's like night and day. The great thing though is that it isn't any taller so it still fits under my cabinets great.
Great Mixer
My newest mixer arrived yesterday and I immediately made a triple batch of cookies. That was 14 cups of flour, 6 cups of sugar, 6 eggs, 6 sticks of butter, 9 ounces of cream cheese. Powered thru it like it was nothing. Mixer is a bit quieter than my 5 qt. It's hard to imagine just how much heavier the paddle, whisk and dough hook are than my profession mixer.
Exactly What I Was Looking For
The KitchenAid 8-qt Mixer is exactly the one I was looking for. Its relatively quiet. The power is obvious. And the volume capacity is a winner.
Great at what it does
The only "complaint" I have about this product is that it is difficult to align the the holes in the bowl to the prongs on the stand; it takes quite a bit of torque to get it to fit right. Other than that, I love this mixer. Very simple to use and gets the job done quickly.
