Hoshizaki C-80BAJ-AD Description

The self-contained refrigeration system in the Hoshizaki C-80BAJ-AD ADA-height undercounter ice maker operates with R134A refrigerant. This system intakes and exhausts air from the front of the unit, a design that frees up the sides for installment flush against other equipment. For user-friendly operation, the power switch is accessible without removing any panels, and the water circuit can be taken apart for thorough cleaning.

The Hoshizaki C-80BAJ-AD undercounter ice maker produces as much as 80 pounds of cubelet ice every 24 hours if the surrounding air is 70 degrees Fahrenheit and incoming water is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Less ice will be produced in warmer temperatures. After it is formed, ice is stored in the 22-pound capacity bin for later use.

  • Sonic Style Ice

By Handyman Homeowner on March 21, 2019

"Overall it's a great product. It started making ice within minutes of being hooked to power and water. Makes cubelet ice as advertised. 2 reasons it gets 4 instead of 5 stars is 1. Noise 2. Plastic. It's noisy (not as noisy as the C-100BAE-AD that it replaced) but, it's still the loudest appliance in the kitchen, except for the blender. I ended up putting it on a timer, so that it makes its racket while I'm asleep. The only other thing I'd change about it is that it comes with adherent plastic on each individual stainless steel panel to keep them from getting scratched, which should be a good thing. However, you have to basically disassemble the unit to get the plastic off the panels where they attach to the ice machine. They should have just wrapped the whole ice machine and not each individual piece. Getting that stuff off was the most time consuming part of the installation. Razor blades and a fair amount of under the breath cursing were involved in the plastic removal process. Water and drain hookup are not plug and play. A working knowledge of plumbing is recommended. You don't have to be a pro, but you need to know what you're doing."
