Great product
Love cooking outside. And this bigger oven makes it easier
dutch oven lid wobbles, won't seal moisture in while cooking
Out of the box the lid wobbles and won't seal moisture in while cooking. There is one "sweet spot" where the lid fits correctly, rotate the lid 90 degrees as normally done to ensure even heating and the lid doesn't seal. Clearly Lodge quality is not what it used to be. I do not recommend this product.
A Camping "Must Have"!
The Dutch Oven arrived as promised which was great because we were leaving that afternoon. There's nothing like breakfast biscuits baked in a Dutch Oven! Did not know that the rim around the top to retain coals was developed by none other than American Patriot, Silver Smith and metal Smith, Paul Revere!

I needed to get this item in short order. My son-in-law has the 12" model and made excellent biscuits with it our last camping trip. I needed this larger unit to accommodate our larger group and for our new interest in Dutch Oven Cookery. Kathmandu met their promise of delivery and a well protected high quality product arrived. Great Product with History!
I have only used mine once so far and that was to bake biscuits while camping. Everyone enjoyed a golden browned biscuit with their eggs and bacon that chilly Morning! The accompanying book guide to how many briquettes for the right temperature was as exact as setting your oven at home. To expand use I have gotten the Camp Maid Dutch Oven lid holder and charcoal starter to compliment my rig.
You Need This!!!
I always find myself cooking for more people than I originally plan. I have got by with a 12 for years, but love that this opens up the opportunity to cook more food, as well as larger roasts and turkeys.

I'm new to cooking outdoors, but the Lodge Dutch ovens make cooking outdoors ready and good... I've made cakes, guinea fowls, rice, roast beef, veggie medley. All made outdoors in the winter...

A well made product
We use Dutch ovens many times for family camping meals. I had to improvise to fit the Thanksgiving turkey in the deep 14' oven, however aluminum foil did the trick and there were no complaints about the results. We have five Dutch ovens of variou sizes. LODGE OVENS ARE STILL MADE IN AMERICA!

This was a gift for my stepsons Birthday. He is doing a lot with the Boy Scouts and wanted a Camp Oven like one he had as a boy, but bigger and this is the same one. He knows how great it is already and is looking forward to getting started.
