This is the standard......
This is the Dutch oven size that is called for in almost all the recipes for outdoor cooking. I love mine and I have a deeper 12 inch as well. This six quart is the identical size as is also found with the Boy Scout insignia engraved on the lid. I think it is the perfect size for most anything I cook. There are times when something taller is needed for a tall roast or a ham but I have that covered with larger (and heavier) Dutch ovens. I'd say that most of the time, this is my go-to Dutch oven for both inside and outside cooking. It works just great both on top of and in the oven of my gas range. It holds a generous amount of food and is not as much of an exercise in weight lifting as some of the higher capacity Dutch ovens. Lodge quality is always tops. You might find cheaper somewhere but you won't find better.
I would buy this again in a snap.
This is a quality product, i have used it several times on the charcoal and had great pizza in the dutch oven over coals.
Think Twice
I use the Dutch Oven for camp cooking and purchased Lodge because of "Quality", however the handle on the lid broke the first time I used it and have been unable to get replaced as no one in customer service will contact me back. Very Dissapointed with Lodge !
If you only buy ONE
This is the most versatile piece of cast iron cookware I've got, and I have a bunch. The lid is big enough to invert and scramble eggs,then warm up the tortilla for breakfast burritos. The pan is deep enough to fry up the day's catch. The more you use it, the more you will appreciate it.
