Because of its 40-gallon capacity, the Groen DEE/4-40C tilting steam kettle can cook large portions of food for correctional institutions, hospitals, and schools. Surrounding the interior, a two-thirds jacket covers this kettle, and when turned on, water in the jacket heats up and turns into steam. This steam jacket cooks more evenly than traditional, bottom-only heat sources. For extended use, rust inhibitors reduce the chances of rust forming in the inner jacket layer, while a low-water cut-off ensures the system only operates when there is the correct amount of water inside. Employees can check the water level periodically using the sight glass, or they can refill it whenever the low-water light comes on.

This Groen DEE/4-40C floor model steam kettle has such a large capacity that it comes with a manual hand crank. Using the crank, employees can pour cooked product into separate containers, even when it is still warm. The tilt mechanism self-locks while in motion so product does not slosh out, and to prevent splashing, the pouring lip has a butterfly shape. For strength, the rim is reinforced with a bar, and the kettle has been welded into a single piece. Its stainless steel construction is durable, rust resistant, and quick to wipe down.
