Mixed Review: mostly good, perhaps not the broiler

I think I like this stove. I have had just under a week. The burners work well, and the two-piece cast iron burner grates are well made, and allow shifting pots/pans back and forth. I have yet to use the oven, but did check the heat within it -seems about right, checking with an average oven thermometer. I have one problem with it: the broiler seems -very- week. I think most people using a 24" stove livein smaller spaces -likely apartments. And most such dwellers won't have access to an outdoor grill. SO a broiler becomes important if you intend to broil a steak or chop. The last stove in place, also 24", did it well and had a strong broiler flame that quickly broiled the meat, leaving the center medum rare or red and the surface as a crust. I don't think you an do this with this stove. And the broiler pan that comes with it does not take up the bottom surface (it's small) -so that mean that spatter from the broiler will go around and underneath the broiler pan. So, broiling meats may not work well with this stove.
